I think I understand how you burned out, but I still miss your irreverent humour--saucy but never mean spirited. One of the best digital realists around. Miss ya,Mr. Ball.

I miss you and your awesome artwork, too, it's sad to see 2draw so empty these days.

Scheduled Downtime
marcello (edited Aug 26, 2010)
Update: We're back! The 2draw server host is going under some brief maintenance. According to the guys upstairs...
The maintenance and reboot is scheduled for Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 11:00 PM CDT (Friday, August 27th 2010 0400 GMT/UTC). The total impact of the maintenance and reboot is expected to be brief (30 minutes or less), however, it is possible (as is always the case when performing maintenance) that it may stretch longer than anticipated.
With any luck,...

I still find showcase stuff I haven't seen before. This is wonderful! Such Van Gogh-ish stroke work.

I can't believe this was 3 years ago, it seems like just yesterday. Where is the time going?
dorothyblueeyes (Jan 25, 2012)

i was thinking that i might learn more from copying some great paintings instead of fotos.
For my first one, i chose one of my favorite artists, Josh Kirby, to copy from. He was a really great artist, but its a bit difficult to find a good painting from him to copy, as he tended to do those really detailed paintings (especially on the Discworld books)
for reference i chose one of his simpler paintings: http://andokai.blog.cz/0608/josh-kirby

Various bug fixes.
marcello (edited May 16, 2012)
Fixed Lascaux Sketch's language support. (Setting worked and saved, but didn't actually do anything.) Fixed a bug where switching an image to finished in the comment submission after revising an image didn't update the image as it does when you do it in edit. Fixed a bug related to pinned entries being pinned on the 'latest' board. Added possible fix to applet being extremely thin. Same fix should now restrict the width of the applet from being no narrower than the "ideal" width. Fixed asc...

How'd I miss this? I've been sitting here looking at it now for about half an hour. I wish it was bigger. I've gone through about four stages of thinking I understood the image...keep changing my mind. The death mask of the dying heart is terrifying. Powerful image and so beautifully rendered. That ribcage and foreshortened elbow are so lovely. I'm getting the same sense of horror from this that I felt during some of Jack Nicholson's mad scenes in The Shining.

Well in that case, one thing I always try to remember is if you get captured by the enemy try not to let them stick something up your butt.
