This reminds me of a Morlock from The Time Machine
Roytje (Nov 3, 2008)
Brilliant use of different textures..
alienmushroom (Nov 26, 2008)
this is very well done....have you let the music alone inspire your direction or have their artist played a role as well? very Chet Zar"ish," either way i'm a huge fan of both....great work!

I felt like looking at this once more.
I think it's the only abstract piece who ever brought tears to my eyes, and managed to do it twice.

I'm trying to understand what's so great in it, and I really don't know. But I really love it.
Dr.Moony (Sep 22, 2012)
@shults: honestly the comment I think back to the most.
It's cool to think that a painting can make someone tear up for a moment, especially since I never experienced it. Music is a stronger medium to me...I wonder why.
shults (edited Sep 22, 2012)
Nice to know.. :) It's not too often that sight amazes me in a good way, but it happened before, that I was so amazed and excited by a piece of art that I teared (it happened in museums, here, and by 'natural pieces of art' like the first time I saw a whale).
lori (Sep 22, 2012)
It's like a puzzle that I want to keep taking apart and putting back together again...and...it's beautiful!

Had a quick look at Artnatomy...
Then made this pretty unscientific portrait.

edit:
Just noticed that I did not read the rules properly

Great entry. He looks like he's dieted once too often
Suntan (Oct 2, 2008)
You've inspired me to practice, thank you and..I've found anatomy is quite difficult...his mouth is especially good. Well done!
TheCrimsonKing (Oct 2, 2008)
Yeah, but it's still fun too look at.

Pandora (Sep 30, 2008)
Electrifying
QueenMelkorka (Sep 30, 2008)
I like this too, I see a morphing moth in an electric cage in front of a skull watching it
Elementalist (Oct 1, 2008)
Neat. It looks like String Theory.

Now that you mention it, I can see it too QueenMelkorka. Now it's even neater.

Some quick and fun stuff.

ref is some random photo I took:
http://bv-design.com/stuff/van_ref.jpg

Colors look completely different because I tried to go for his palette.
Bright spots are mostly yellow, and darker mostly blue(somewhat green, somewhat red). Now that I look at it, it's way too saturated and to start with orange wasn't the best decision.
One key point are the short strokes which flow(don't cross!). Also the strokes are done with a high opacity(and blending activated) to give them the impact they need.

This suggests the interior of a huge alien spacecraft like the one in Alien. Good stuff
Suntan (Sep 15, 2008)
This is great. It's so dimensional.
