First time seeing this and all I can say is OMG, the detail in this...wow. This is really a outstanding, mouth drop'n drawing. Beautiful by the way.

Amazing, and great detail. (are your fingers or hands sore at all that's a ton of work!)

This is the main character from my story Blood Lust. I'm practicing my proportions so any crits and tips are welcome. I already know that back foot looks a lil funky...its been bothering me the entire time.

The head is big compared to the body, the feet and hands are a bit small if you ask me. Usually the average height is a person is 7.5 times the length of the head. If you erase the line of the foot we see first that makes the heel look floppy, that foot will look better I think. Her left foot should be a bit bigger. So should the hands. Hope this helps.

Thanks :) This does help a lot.

:D Playing with the boards.
That was me, but after a while she didn't really look exactly like me.
But she has the 'essence'...if that's the right word.
So yay!

I think it is very good for using a mouse. As for tablets, I recommend the Wacom Graphire. It's perfect for beginners and I'm still using mine.

This is a safety save.

Lalique is my fursona and in this picture, I wanted to try adding a longer snout and make her a bit bigger. I'm adding her long mane in later but for now, I think she looks pretty good. Darn these impossibly small canvases.

I like her, she's cute. ^w^ Though, with line art in lascaux I put the flow low around 80-ish and the opacity around 130-ish, and I go real slow. XD. I use the the air brush tool.. umm. like the one on the bottom. I then use the eraser set on mid opacity and mid flow, and then clean up the lines to make them even cleaner. X3. If you have any questions on that I would love to try and help. Just note me. <3 the stars on her leg. X3
Sweetcell (Aug 7, 2007)
Giving out my secrets Aaron? :)

May I suggest, the upper body looks fine, but her lower body is just too small. Especially her haunches (lower legs, butt) If you use the move tool (making sure flow and opacity are all the way up and anti-alias is unchecked or else you'll get a shadow effect) and move her up a bit and to the left you can make her lower body bigger. She's pretty, but right now she looks distorted. And for the halo, take advantage of the circle tool, you'll get a nice smooth round curve.
Celestial_Wolfess (Jan 1, 2008)
Thank you psychofox0 and Sweetcell. I will try that :)

You should spend more time. This is just a few colored circles.

And you know, just because you did something doesn't mean you have to submit it.

So please, next time, if you're just going to do a bunch of circles, don't submit it.
Celestial_Wolfess (Aug 7, 2007)
Its not just a "bunch of circles." No one person can say what isn't art and what is. I did spend a lot of time on this. These time counters are messed up. I spent over an hour on the second picture i submitted and it says it was 19 sec. I was going for something abstract. Some people just paint their canvases a bunch of different shades of one color, and that is art.

Next time you think of calling one of my pictures a "bunch of circles", think again. Just because it doesn't have people in it or a landscape of some kind doesn't mean that its not art.
Punky (Aug 7, 2007)
Well, seeing as it does consist of only a bunch of coloured circles, I'd say it'd be pretty fair to call it that.
Hokori (Aug 7, 2007)
I don't think that paint splashed on a canvas is art, and I don't really think a few colored circles is art. Sorry, but that's just opinion.

But here's a tip for you if you want to be an artist: The artist is evaluated on their richness in what they create.

When you go to a mueseum, nobody is amazed or interested in a bunch of circles--they go for the things that are very deep, almost magnetic, like a person painted with a breathtaking backdrop, or an object they relate to being twisted into a surrealistic piece. Those guys who buy a paint-splashed picture for 12 million bucks... I don't think they truly understand what art is. They just want to say they do, and hang a pricey image on their wall.

Even Picasso, using circles and shapes and whatnot, managed to take it and intergrate an image like a nude woman or little boy. So be artistic in your abstract--create a strong visual feast that makes us want to stop and just... stare at it.

Sorry if that bugged you. I just wanted to say it. I don't want to start any debates or fights over what is and isn't art, because in the end, it would only be two sides repeating over and over that they have certain opinions. Nothing would really change in anyone's mind, I think. :)

Good luck in whatever you do.

This is just a picture of a brown wolf with a beautiful sapphire eye. Submitting this in beginner even though I know its intermediate because of what happened with my last picture. Havent drawn here in over a month cuz of that and probably will upload very few things in the future. Anyways, I was trying my hand at semi realistic fur and some parts of it came out better than others but its still a work in progress.

This is Satoshi Hiwatari/Hikari from D.N. Angel. The one waaaaay off in the distance is you-know-who(Don't ask. Manga vol. 2 refrence), with red wings.
BTW, watercolor lineart is now my mortal enemy. It looks good, but it takes so long!

Finished! *passes out from exaustion* I swear, if I look at this tomorrow and see something wrong with it, I'm going to scream.

It looks really good! I love DNAngel. I havent read the manga but ive been watching the show.
Inu-chan (Mar 24, 2007)
Thank you! It's a shame you haven't read the manga, they left out a bunch of stuff in the anime. But I suppose DNAngel is good either way. ^_^
fleeting_memory (Mar 24, 2007)
I've read the manga-and I'm sad that it stopped-hopefully it'll start up again soon. When I saw this part in the show though I flipped out :)

This is a safety save. Yes I realize it looks really crappy because I didnt finish wiping out the color outside of the lines but it will look really good when its done. Btw, does anybody know how to do that without having to go and erase by hand?

You have a small window to delete, then it's set in stone. Look at it this way, you have a free canvas to draw on. Just try again.

Did my best to erase the stuff outside of the lines. Dont know why they decided to move this to the beginner board cuz it aint beginner. I just draw in a different style than everyone else. Oh well. Anyways, expect it to be shaded within the next two weeks and i'll think about a background for it.

I added shading and a temporary background. Yes my shading sucks...
