Busted! Yep, it's a part of the face that I'm particularly partial to. If you read up on it, it's a very interesting little dent--can indicate infertility and other health issues but I think this is my favorite thing about it...

In Jewish mythology, an angel strikes a newborn on the upper lip right before birth to create the philtrum, so he forgets all he saw and knew as a soul.

When I drew this face I kept asking myself "Is this a compassionate face or the face of a corrupt man?" I'm thinkin' the corrupt side won out. Honestly, I thought the thing people would notice first would be that awesome comb-over. '-)
lori (Nov 22, 2012)
That's interesting! Honestly everything about this guy besides his little dent kinda freaks me out.

Fantastic portrait.

I am an infant when it comes to my drawings... I am also brand new on this site, but I was browsing around and came upon this drawing and I have to say, I really found myself drawn to him... I love his blue eyes. ( I always notice peoples eyes before anything else)! I didn't even notice the "comb over" you mentioned! but what really made me like him was his eyebrows!

You are an extremely talented artist. One, you obviously have all of the proportions correct and all of the fundamentals down pat... But mainly because you have the ability to give them life. You bring out emotion in the people you draw and I truly admire that in an artist! I've enjoyed looking at your art and will continue to study it as I search for my own style.

Happy Turkey Day to you too!
dorothyblueeyes (Dec 3, 2012)
you won't believe what I did to mine: somebody bought me a 22 pound turkey. I cut it up in a sterilized sink, with a sharp knife, like a chicken into different pieces; I put it in a large pan, covered it with red wine up to its neck, and put chopped onions and garlic in; and after a while, at 325°, I added chopped up, two fat tangerines, and their skin; I cooked it a little too long. But mostly it came out divine! I had the most fantastic onion soup flavored with red wine, with a hint of orange, and no alcohol. All the alcohol got cooked out, and all the wonderful red wine flavor was left in the flesh. It really did please me, I can still cook. Turkey a vin. And it was fun, but I hurt my back. Ha ha.

Poop sack
Axil62 (Nov 18, 2012)
I wish my little sister had pooped her sleeping bag once when we were camping, because that would be a funny story. We could have called her ole poop sack for the rest of the camping trip too. I think next time I see her I'm just gonna start calling her ole poop sack anyway. At least I'll have that.

I'm happy to be back! I'm really glad to see that oldies are still active!
and I'm glad that 2draw's community is kind of small. the internet is overwhelming :(

OOOOh, yummy, look so real! Great work Axel.yes, Axel is so good, he can teach any of us.those are absolutely delicious!

(My problem, I find, is that I am no longer the younger person who made all the very realistic or decorative work in my life. Apparently it no longer appeals to me, and also my hands can't do it anymore. Too much arthritis. But that just happens to some people with age, and definitely in my family.but also I'm not the same person, so my artwork isn't the same, and I can't do the same thing I used to do. Except for cartoons, is all., I found out that art isn't the only thing in life, and it doesn't do for me what it did, be such a great addiction.I did so much of it, I'm pretty much sapped out. I started in the first grade drawing in class, and I never quit.also, I don't feel like I have anything to prove to anybody except myself. Weird isn't it?I'm not sure whether it's a good thing or bad thing. Or neutral.) but I'm glad Axel is still going strong.

@adxaidl3692- Really??? Why? and how much would you pay for it?
adxaidl3692 (edited Nov 8, 2012)
Because it is so well balanced, and intriguing. The composition is great and I love the colors.
shults (Nov 8, 2012)
I ~think I can get the balance issue, but that's where it ends for me. [No offense Dan, just not my cup of tea..]

I like this very much. No matter how much further you go with it, it already has the thing that makes it something you like.
