Love all your detail in this one. All the colors are so beautiful from the greens in glowing distance to the outfit worn. I think this is a lovely drawing, nice work.

Hi "Bette", and "Gillie", and "Ree".....Thank you all so very much for all of your nice comments....I really do appreciate it. It took me a long while to finish this picture (but it didn't take me 19 hrs.."LOL"!)...but I'm glad I'm finally done with it. I'm glad you all like the picture! "Poor Ophelia.....rejected by Hamlet, and devastated by the loss of her father....she loses all reason, and drowns......:( Very sad story...
Suntan (Jan 25, 2009)

Not quite right yet, the one I didn't eat yesterday, that was left in my cooler is a little browner....LOL
Your shadowing is wonderful here.
Axil62 (Jan 9, 2009)
Maybe it's the altitude here.
Silvair (Jan 10, 2009)
You make fruit look so fearsomely dynamic. I think part of it is because of the shock of white flesh contrasting with how the skin is like puckering (<--there's probably a better word, but I can't think of it...).
Aakyra (Jan 10, 2009)
Always excellent work from you, I particulary like the contrasts in the fruit, you are so gifted Axil!

elly (Feb 26, 2010)
Thanks, mursku =) You should try it! It's not as hard as some might think...ya, maybe a little patience is required but that's a good thing to practice too!

How'd I miss this? I've been sitting here looking at it now for about half an hour. I wish it was bigger. I've gone through about four stages of thinking I understood the image...keep changing my mind. The death mask of the dying heart is terrifying. Powerful image and so beautifully rendered. That ribcage and foreshortened elbow are so lovely. I'm getting the same sense of horror from this that I felt during some of Jack Nicholson's mad scenes in The Shining.

Painted Face

Grin
they said,
demanding
I hide feelings,
and show the false me.
Put on that happy face.
Repress the sadness and hurt,
for no one likes the lonely child;
or so they told me and I believed.
Swallow all that you know about yourself,
and lose your precious identity too.
So I painted my lips big and bright,
for all to see the cheerful me;
my soul sinister with time.
Now grown and on my own,
I fear being lost.
I am consumed,
but the paint
does come
off.

Oh hey, awesome. The water is so still and tranquil, it's almost like a glass mirror if not for the soft ripples.
Pantera (Jan 5, 2009)
I wish I lived in a place like this, looks so peaceful, great job on the colours and everything else :)

Aozora: I think the thing that's missing is more work. That seems to be a problem of mine all the time. I always get lazy and never end up putting as much work into it as I would like.
But thanks for the comment. It's much appreciated. And thanks everyone else, too.
Flubbles (Jan 5, 2009)
Its not necessarily a bad thing, thats what makes it your work.I wish i could go less in to detail and be more painterly at times.

Hi "Babs"!! I just now noticed that you left a comment on my lighthouse draw....Thank you very much....I really do appreciate it!! Yes....I have noticed that there are several people here that we know.....I like that....I missed seeing these people from "FG". THANKS!!! :)
montezmaria (Jan 23, 2009)
I think this is really beautiful. The sky reminds me of a cool day with the sky coloring, which is very pretty. I love all the colors you used in this, so many gorgeous ones. This looks like an early fall day, sweater type of a day. It is very relaxing to look at. Great drawing!

Birds have no consciousness of doom:
Yon thrush that serenades me daily
From scented snow of hawthorn bloom
Would not trill out his glee so gaily,
Could he foretell his songful breath
Would sadly soon be stilled in death.

Yon lambs that frolic on the lea
And incarnate the joy of life,
Would scarce disport them could they see
The shadow of the butcher's knife:
Oh Nature, with your loving ruth,
You spare them knowledge of Dark Truth.

To sad humanity alone,
(Creation's triumph ultimate)
The grimness of the grave is known,
The dusty destiny await . . . .
Oh bird and beast, with joy, elance
Effulgently your ingorance!
Oh man, previsioning the hearse,
With fortitude accept your curse!
