What's this? Blue and gold and red and gray, multicoloured eyes and no background, you say? Eh, painkillers have odd effects on the muse. Now, I know the anatomy's rather off on this one, and I'm still playing around with this type of shading - too much practice with fully grayscale, realistically-shaded pencil sketches - but still: any hints, tips, comments, or musings?

How can you tell if the anatomy is off on an imaginary creature, lol. I think it's colorful and cleanly drawn.

Thanks :) The head just seems a little too big and the limbs a touch twisted. According to others (and occasionally myself) I am usually overly literally minded for a fantasy fanatic but always a perfectionist... Well, this time I was too lazy to be a perfectionist. And my jaw hurt. -dental surgery last week- On to more, hopefully better built beasties of my imagination!

Love the facial coloring and features. I also find it really interesting the way you incorporated the textures on this one.

"Hi "Ree"......Thank you so much for your nice comment.....I really appreciate it. I tried making his skin coloring pretty dark, because pirates are supposed to be dark and ominous looking.....I hope I was able to achieve that look for him. I do like using texture tools.....I hope I didn't overuse them. I'm glad you like the pic....."Thanks"!! :)

Yeah, I lived in a town in Ohio (Sandusky), that was located right near Lake Erie.....that was back in 1970 and 1971. That's where we got our boat. Those were some fun times.....boating and fishing were some of my favorite things to do. Living that close to Lake Erie was awesome. I still have a picture that I took of our boat....if I can find it, I might try drawing it...."lol"! :)
