If this comes out as planned, this might be the start of something amazing.

>This goes along with a story I wrote in highschool when my dads mom and my moms dad died in the same month. I lost the story, but I re-wrote it in memory of my mom's mother passing away last year. Here's the story in it's as yet unedited form, but the gist of it is there I think.

PS- Good C&C is all too greatly appreciated and used

Tha is a beautiful story CV and the picture is very well made to go with it..
nekodesu (May 28, 2005)
Wow! beautiful work!
Kasha (May 30, 2005)
This is good. I like how the foreground is out of focus and the background isn't. Much like a picture taken with a camera. :D

I'm trying to improve my art by working on my weak points. One of my major flaws is the lack of understanding on how to use colours properly, so for this drawing, I'm going to attempt to gain a better insight on its use.

Hi Ham. Welcome! This is looking good already.
Anna (May 30, 2005)
Glad to see you here, Ham :-) It looks great! I'm looking forward to seeing more of your art.
Cordelia_Pink (May 30, 2005)
Wowzas, this is tubular! Above and beyond. To infinity and beyond! The shading looks like they're done by pencil crayons--which is great because pencil crayons are great too. I hope you carry on with shi-painter. It's such a great applet and when I first saw this, I thought it was done in Lascaux (which just tells me that shi-painter is so much better--'cause Lascaux is such a goody-two-shoe). Anyhow, welcome to 2draw. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the site.

I really like this. The brown line art looks great.

Nice!!!! It's cool that it's a bathtub that's she in rather than a ship. hehe it's about time someone invented bathtub helicopters.
davincipoppalag (May 30, 2005)
I think Leonardo DaVinci and Igor Sikorsky got together with the backing of the American Standard fixtures company to build this for her. I particularly like the landscape below. This is a fun picture Mr. Zack.(now did you write down that minuet yet!! Get over there and Do it!...Quit stalling~!)

Richard is a fairy too! Wow. And he has also has a pet rat named Fivel (spelling?), eh? Cool. I hope your dreams come true because this is an awesome fantasy pic!! I like the fact that you two shrunk in the size of a mushroom. Cool.

50 k O_O Nice. I'm glad I get to look at it for free. ^_^
DinoFlorist (May 27, 2005)
50 K of what? What is this Gaia? Is it anything like World of Warcraft?
Hakkai (May 27, 2005)
Gaia is kinda like Neopets, but instead of pampering and taking care of pets, you have avatars of yourself to take care of. There isn't any need for food or water, so your avatar cannot get thirsty or hungry and die. To earn money, you post on their forums. Ofcourse, you get VERY little money from posting and browsing around. Their currency is golds, so from this picture I got 50,000 golds.
p3ndragon (May 29, 2005)
Gaia Online is like a very simple forum-based WoW.
There's not leveling up or quests or any sort of gameplay. It's just a big forum.
o_O
Great job, Hakkai. Are you a GO regular?

It's a nice setup with how you've postioned the characters, but personally I think you have a more practice to do before you will have "mastered the basic skills of drawing" as this intermediate board description says. I'll give you a few pointers that may help, a lot of people do some of the things I'm seeing you do here- it looks like you've tried to draw the hands the way hands look, since you've added lines of fingers and such, but a common mistake is to make hands disproportionately small. Hands should really be almost as long as the distance from a person's chin to their hairline when the hand is held flat, and making a fist with them wouldn't make them as small as what you've drawn. Another thing is that some of the shading is smooth but some of it is rough and I don't think the two styles are really looking like the fit together here. The same goes for the lines, some are smooth but many are very rough. Try to be consistant with one style or another, and if you purposefully make them rough then you're going to have to do it in a way that it looks like you meant it to be like that, not just because you weren't able to make it smooth. A way that would make it look purposeful was if the picture had a mood or emotion in it that needed rough lines, like anxiety or panic.
George_Goat (Apr 10, 2005)
I looked back on your previous version of this picture, and you do seem to do linework well. You'll probably want to work on coloring/shading and backgrounds, though.
Though Redpanda gave a lot of good advice already it seems. ^^

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where
Going no where
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Mad world

If this is a slump I'd like to be "slumped" up next to you. That's some pretty powerful painting, there, Staci.

It seems to be going around. I'm just now starting to get the drawing urge back. this is great though for being in a slump. :}
