Kloxboy (Mar 23, 2007)
So much warmth, beauty and grace, I couldn't escape her.
Everything is what I offered her and everything is what she became.
But, so I found out, she was never meant to be with. Once this was known, there was no rekindling the flame.
In my mind, she remains so vivid, attempts to forget her and her love have proven agonizingly difficult.
I was left with unrequited love, a curse so consuming it plagued my every thought...but why? and for who?
I was naive, not recognizing she was damned when I first met her.
She was blind and lead me to be blinded myself, this is the way of the damned.
Strong poison are the damned, their sickness lingers way too long.
I now know it is better to reject the damned.
Let the damned be damned.

Looking back
on the memory of
The dance we shared
beneath the stars above
For a moment all the world was right
How could I have known you'd ever say goodbye
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd have had to miss the dance
Holding you
I held everything
For a moment
wasn't I the king
But if I'd only known how the king would fall
Hey who's to say you know I might have changed it all
And now I'm glad I didn't know
The way it all would end
the way it all would go
Our lives are better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
But I'd' have had to miss the dance
Yes my life
is better left to chance
I could have missed the pain
but I'd have had to miss the dance
Garth Brooks

You'll dance again :).

Hey klox, you've really tapped into something great here, in terms of layering and dimension, the implications are awesome, very inspiring.

I keep looking at this piece, it's got this creepy Pinocchio, mannequin feel to it. it would be interesting to see you do a few scary fairy tale drawings. =D

Holy shit, bro. I love this Duchamp-ey kinda stuff you're doing. If I ever get good enough or noticeable enough that people bother to ask me who my influences are, you're going to be on the short list.

man this is cool. he looks like he's turning into cement on the inside, with transparent skin like those crazy fish where you can see their internal organs.

Nightmare? Is that good or bad...? *rolls eyes*
I guess it depends on weather or not you like him. I personally think he's pretty cool and has a very unique style.

Ruggi (Mar 31, 2006)
Based on a short story written by a dear friend:

She sat on the edge of the bed and realized she was craving a cigarette. Not that she really knew what it would feel like to desire it, having never smoked, but there were certain times in her life when she’d had the distinct feeling that if she were, in fact, a smoker, that she would be lighting one up: the day she left her well paying job to risk starting her own business, the moment after she closed the deal on her house, and now, watching the pool of blood spread out from under the matted black hair lying on the ground before her. The desire stemmed not so much from the desire to calm her nerves but rather as a compliment to the immense sense of satisfaction she felt at those times.

A glance down at the massive lump of flesh, the belly fat rolling out the sides, the legs splayed, arms arching around the head, making him look like the grotesque lovechild of a sumo wrestler and a ballerina.

She imagined inhaling the sweet smoke deeply into her lungs and nudged him with the toe of her white patent leather pumps. Jiggle and settle. She did it again, harder. Once again, jiggle and settle. She nodded, satisfied, and imagined exhaling the smoke, watching it curl lazily towards the motionless ceiling fan.

For some reason she thought she’d hear sirens about now; wasn’t that always the way it worked? Other than the ordinary rise and fall of the traffic outside, she heard nothing. No bolt of lightning from God, no sudden appearance of her mother, no cops circling the house with weapons drawn. And so it was then; revenge was not played out under the lights of the big stage but quietly executed in the wings.

She tossed the remainder of her smouldering cigarette on his waxy back and disappeared like smoke out the door.

Nice. I like the desaturated colours. =]
KuteDymples (Apr 30, 2007)
I really like this one, I like seeing the brush strokes, the colors are muted and very nice and best of all her pose. I like her fingernails, and the shineyness you added to her hair and skin. Great job! Very nice picture!

Ruggi (Apr 29, 2007)
I know... lost track of the entire loop! Think it went that way...?

And I guess you are right about the softening of the edges. Somehow I always end up mixing up line art and more realistic drawing, and it results in... well... something like this
