safescene~ I'm breaking my promise to myself not to comment here anymore, that's how much I'd like to see you do one, please do one.
safescene (Mar 27, 2004)
Well, since you asked so politely, I guess I can make somethin' happen ;P

It's so nice to feel appreciated - thanks axil. I'll make sure to start straight away, although it may take some time.
davincipoppalag (Mar 27, 2004)
I liked the first version better.. in this one.. the arm she is leaning on kind of disappeared.. makes her look strangely armless kinda... its a beautiful picture though..

Nice, reminds me of Flubs for some reason. Funny to associate him with black nudes when he's proven on several occasions he's not color discriminating when it comes to nudity.

"In the clearing stands a boxer and a fighter by his trade and he carries the reminders of every glove that laid him down or cut him till he cried out in his anger and his shame "I am leaving, I am leaving!" but the fighter still remains...." ~ Simon and Garfunkle (another favorite)

You didn't ruin it. You overworked it a little. I know what you do... it reaches a point where it's great, but you don't see it yet, you look at it and think, but... it could be better if I just do this, and that, and pretty soon...you start to become frustrated and it's overworked. I actually still like v.2 the best. But I understand you, and I like you, and I like your art, and I like all the versions.
dixielandcutie (Mar 19, 2004)
well said dba, lol. and this new version is very cool. i like the silveryish coloring better! awesomeness axil

That's wonderful. As I was scanning through the Advanced Art and carefully (or rather, nonchalantly) criticizing each one, I stumbled upon yours. Truly wonderful, Axil -- I always admire your art. You have an amazing style -- Reminds me of Van Gogh (the circles compared to his wavy lines).

wow impressive, another one I wouldn't have recognized as yours had I not known

I just felt it was high time for a good hard look at my bathtub stopper. I'm sure you've felt the same way at some point.

You know you've watched too much porn when this drawing reminds you of a pierced nipple. Not that I'd know that myself.

"It's a still life watercolor of a now late afternoon, as the sun shines through the curtain lace and shadows wash the room. And we sit and drink our coffee, couched in our indifference like shells upon a shore you can hear the ocean roar in the dangling conversation, and the superficial sighs, the boarders of our lives. And you read your Emily Dickinson and I my Robert Frost and we note our place with book markers that measure what weve lost...." Simon and Garfunkle

One of my all-time favourite songs, Axil - and you did it justice. The final version really captures the feelings of "the shadows wash the room", in a way that the earlier versions didn't, leaving the image more disconnected from the song. This brings them back into a connected whole, as a picture and its description should be, IMHO. :) The only flaw is not in the image or its execution, but in the connection between it and the song - because she doesn't look "couched in indifference", but instead intently focused. No insult intended, though -- the piece is gorgeous, regardless.

From a black and white photo. I chose this subject based on several factors, I like the angle the shot was taken from, it creates an impression of superiority. The black and white was also something I felt like trying to "get right" and last but not least the shot showed lots of detail in the muscles that I felt would be a good challenge, something that would hold my interest and make me put forth some effort, good exercise. I redid this comment after finaly having read the rules.

The flower is simply beautiful. I like how you blurr the flowers in the back, to make it more depth
