(Has someone posted stuffs like this? If they do, sorry >_<)

What do you think, people?
Digital paintings are really beautiful, full of colors and wonderful effects.. and somethings looks so real!
But I prefer paint by hand.. it's more simple but more original.. if someone do a VERY beautiful paint in digital colors, ok, it'll be amazing
But when someone do the same painting by hand... WOW!!
That's amazing a lot!!!
So? Do you think we can talk too much about this?
(sorry the bad english..)

I like digital better. There is an undo button. :D

Digital art is definatly my favorite, but drawing on paper is easier if you dont have a tablet. I draw by mouse so it takes 3 times as long to do the lineart.

Digital art, definately..And, yeah, I love the undo button. Pencil erasers smudge sometimes..and rip the paper if you erase on the same spot too much (>,<);

I like real paintings the best, I like to be able to back up some and look at it from a distance, I like to get close and run my fingers over the canvas of an oil or acrylic painting (but not in a museum, don't try that.... don't go past the red velvet barrier things and set off the alarm where the security guards come running... well, you could... but you'll only try it once, and then.... :) I touched a Picasso like that in Ft Worth... I also touched a sketch of Michelangelo's (knowing that was going to happen, I just could NOT help it :D) I like digital art because I don't have paint on my nose and in my hair and a headache from turpentine fumes and I don't have a mess to clean up, and the undo button is the best thing since peanutbutter. I do, however, think there's something wonderful about being able to give and take here... being able to share the art immediately is really the "pull" this place has on everyone.

I've done it all and I have to say, though originally I thought it took the heart out of art, digital definately. First, the un-do button, and really I do my best work on computer. I just wish I had one of those huge printers that can make poster sized print outs instead of going to a printing shop and having to pay for it.

But Digital, ya. I haven't touched a canvas since I came here. The only thing I do now is pencil sketches. There ya go.

Cindy, so jealous, wish I had that nerve when they had a showing of old Dutch masters at the museum.

They're different mediums, there's no 'better' one.
Digital painting is a kind of new age extension of tradition painting, and yes, it can be said that digital is 'easier' in way to paint, in that there's no need to mess with paint, and editing can be done without trouble. That being said, it takes just as much skill and effort to make good piece of art digitally as it would traditionally.
It's very important to understand traditional methods before deciding to stick with digital if you are really serious about art.

I myself perfer pen and pencil when doing line work. Digital is great for colouring.

Just go for it, Sweet, sport a really evil mischevious smile, reach out and touch something and then when they show up have your hands intertwined behind your back and look really innocent and smile and say sweetly "Oh, I wasn't supposed to touch it? Sorrrrryyy.... :)"

You bad bad girl. Giving me ideas. I couldn't do that with the 3 Van Goughs, but there was this huge painting of men shipwrecked on a beach that moved me. Everyone was in line getting a closer look at Vannies pics, I just stood and looked at this lovely piece I think was by Van Wick or some such. And no barrier so I got right up there and got to LOOK at the detail. It was beautiful.

Thus the argument dies with digital versus real.... you touch it and you never go back. heh :)

True enough, it will always be a full painted canvas that people will be most moved by, but I will say again I've done my best work here. If only I had a huuuuge printer.

Maybe the printer fairie will bring me one if I'm real real good.... or alright.

I don't paint with real materials at all, I'm more of a sketcher when it comes to non-digital art, but I am not sure I agree with what you said about it being more original. I think anything can be original, it is about what you make not what you make it with, necessarily. I think all forms are completely valid, just different. A preference for one over the other is just that, a preference. And fair enough! ^^

Ah ok, ok, Sweetcell >_< hehehehe
I love love love paint by hand cause I use aquarelable pencil
Yes, undo buttons are good (Smudge Tool forever!!!) but well XD It's just you make a soft draft, so, the eraser won't ruin the paper..
Anyway... it's because although I use computer, I am an anti-hi tech.. hueaheuahu =*******

I like both. I love traditional because you can hold the artwork and hang it on your wall and such; it has a physical form. But I also love digital since it has that spiffy "undo" button :>

Both.

Both, although digital is starting to take a strong lead. :}

What are these "pencils" you speak of?

I've been engrossed in the world of computers since I was a kid, but oddly enough never did much of anything really artistic on it until very recently. I have stacks and piles of sketchpads and canvases representing over 25 years of 'material' art but somehow about two years ago I got into a HUGE artist's block and just couldn't do it anymore. Finally I put everything away in boxes and gave up, thinking that part of my life was done. Just a few months ago I stumbled across this thing called 'Oekaki' and decided I had nothing better to do but play around with it. Amazingly all that inspiration I used to have came flooding back. I'm really very new to digital art but I can't seem to make myself go back to traditional painting just yet- I'm having too much fun here. ;)

With the tools and paintbrushes available here, it's no wonder we're all a bit 'spoiled' from the limitless creativity they allow us. I sometimes like to 'sculpt' a drawing, and I don't think that's possible with another medium, besides clay. I have drawn things I never thought I ever could before on these programs at 2draw. I also think that I can improve on my ability here faster than I can painting or drawing on a canvas/paper. Here, I also am amidst HUGE talent where every creation I see I have the opportunity to learn from. Yeah, I keep comin back day after day...and I can't see going away any time soon. I'm having too much fun!

Well for a real artist it doesn't matter what medium he uses.
But because I am nowhere an artist I prefer to use digital tools.
Just because you can experiment so uncompromisingly and learn about new ways to realise your ideas.
You don't have to fear that you are going to destroy your currently done work. You can try everything and if it wasn't what you imagined then you could undo ;)

But I do not like that digital pictures are bound to a certain size. I would love to be able to zoom limitless into my paintings.
There need to be more development in vector tools.
Also digital tools are currently too much oriented after traditional. Just as if digital art is easy but never going to look like a real painting which is the god made thing.
There should be much more experimenting with new tools which make it easier for us to create what we actually had in mind.

In my eyes digital tools will become the top notch thing in some years. There need to be faster computers, new (not traditional oriented) tools and new interfaces(human-computer).
It will be an interesting...
