What was the movie?
Sweetcell (May 22, 2006)
I'm with poppa, I've seen a lot of Depps movies but this one I'm fuzzy on, well wonderful scene nevertheless. You have such a way with light Dan.
Kloxboy (May 22, 2006)
The movie was Fight Club and that is not Johnny Depp. I suggest you check it out sometime, it's a fun movie.
Zack (May 22, 2006)
Fun movie? Yeah, it's a real light-hearted romp, lol.
davincipoppalag (May 22, 2006)
Isn't that the one with Brad Pitt..talking funny in it?
Sweetcell (May 22, 2006)
Ok sorry, I thought someone wrote that this was Depp, read peoples comments seriously so as not to make a fool of myself in the future.

A movie where men hit each other for money... don't think I'll be seeing it, but it's still a great screen capture.
Zack (edited May 22, 2006)
Money? No, you're thinking of Rocky. This is totally recreational (therapeutic?) violence.

The movie where Brad Pitt talks strangely is Snatch, which is a much more lighthearted yet equally violent movie. Both are great movies though.

Spoilers!!! (for those who haven't seen it)
For Money? I thought they made bars of soap outta fat ( stolen from hospitals ) and sold 'em to make money. Fighting in Fight Club was just for fun/ relieve stress, or so thats what I thought.

Fight club was the movie where Edward Norton ( The guy Axil drew =] ) had his alter ego ( Tyler Durden/ Brad Pitt ) romp around starting fights and making fight club WHILE he was unconcious/ sleeping. That was the twist! Edward didn't know that Tyler was his alter ego, but rather just another person whom he met on a plane ride. In the end he beats himself up silly and shoots a hole in his jaw (?) to get ride of Tyler ( because of the destruction and chaos that he was making ).

<333 loved the movie!
frootcake (May 22, 2006)
lol hakkai, im not sure thats the most concise way of saying the plot but yea you said it.
"I want you to hit me as hard as you can" "whaat" "go on suprise me" "this is f**king stupid" *thump*
"you hit me in the ear, what the F**k! why'd you hit me in the ear?"

oo also, have ppl spotted the subliminal brad pitt images through the film, some are awesome.

I think this is a movie about revolution, not only societal revolution but Jacks own personal revolution. Jack is a man who was raised on TV and was steeped in consumerism. As an adult the pressure of work and the empty pursuit of material things came to a head and he "snapped". This is where his alter ego Tyler Durden surfaces, everything his inner man wanted to be, a primal force within that manifested itself as Tyler. He was not asleep while Tyler did his thing. He was acting out his inner desires to be rid of his bullshit meaningless consumer driven pathetic existence. This in turn flourished into fight club and then ultimately project mayhem where a plan was hatched to obliterate the economy therefore forcing society to abandon the capitalist consumer driven empty meaningless way of life everyone has come to accept as the norm. All through his experience, a woman, Marla, is involved with him, but he sees it as her being involved with Tyler (which is really him the whole time). And her love (however perverted) perservered to the end where he thinks he's shooting Tyler to be rid of him, but in reality is shooting himself, symbolic of killing the part of him that had become so sick and at the same time freed him of the bonds of who he was, just another empty meaningless drone of a consumer driven society. That was my take on it anyway.

I hate that I'm slow and Normac got to this before I did-favorite line in the whole movie.
Interesting thought Axil. I agree with the revolution idea but would probably call it more of a realization. The idea that the main character never has a name and refers to himself as pieces of a whole such as a colon or a headache makes me think of him as incomplete and in realization Tyler is the only name you ever hear him called by the man in the lobby because through his lack of identity his subconcious has made him one. Now interpreting the end is odd because is he killing off the identity that matters so that he can go back to being another face? Or has he now completed himself. Good movie-good picture.
Axil62 (edited May 22, 2006)
I think the movie is put in a nutshell with that very line really. "I am Jack's colon, I get cancer, I kill Jack." Jack gets sick, his sickness is manifest as Tyler (an asshole), Tyler does kill Jack because after Tyler, Jack isn't Jack anymore.
Zack (May 22, 2006)
"You're the best single-serving friend I've ever had. You see, everything on a plane is--"
"No, I got it. It's very clever. How's that working out for you?"
"What?"
"Being clever."
fleeting_memory (May 22, 2006)
Jack? There's no Jack in the movie....
Miss_DJ (May 22, 2006)
