First I was just planning on a figure study but it morphed into this. :D I'm very pleased with the way it turned out though I wish I could have spent more time on it if my hand hadn't begun to scream at me. *rubs it* Any way this is a pic for my friend Adele. She's been feeling down lately so I'm trying to cheer her up.

Oh my goodness! While I can see some rough edges in places, I have trouble figuring out how you created something this impressive in a mere 4+ hours. :) May I ask how long you have been doing this type of artwork? Do you use a model/reference, or was this done completely from your imagination?

If I were to offer one piece of useful critique on this piece, it would be to smooth the edges on the figure's right/viewer's left, because the slightly ragged edge visible in places along the line of the figure's chest and arm seem a little jarring, compared to the beautifully finished look of the rest of the piece. I know you weren't able to finish this piece as desired, but I've seen this problem in a number of other works by a wide range of artists, and it suggests to me that this kind of edge clean-up should be done relatively early in the detailing process, to avoid allowing these problems to linger past the point of initial presentation.

Apart from that relatively minor detail, I really can't think what you might be able to do to make a better piece than this, within the time you had. Heck, I still don't know how you made it *this* good! :) Striking and effective work!

To:alwaysLearning~ Well lets see....I first found out about oekaki applets at 14...so, I've basically been working with them for almost 7 years. Sometimes I use a model/reference for lighting or positioning and bgs but this one came entirely from imagination. I realize that there are quite a few errors in this pic but I did it on a fluke to re-familiarize myself with the applets after being away for so long. *shrugs* This pic really wasn't supposed to be any masterpiece so I don't think much of it.

EverDream, you should do more pictures with shirtless guys bathing in the sun. That would be even more fun. *displays a stupid grin* (I really just said that...?) And btw, this is pretty good coming from only your imagination. I mean, I can picture people in my head but I can't exactly be accurate with body structures, faces and all that. lol (Guys with really long hair look pretty darn good, if I say so myself lol)
