I'll get right down to business, then. Me and some people I met at the university here (fellow compsci students) are planning on making a short amateur movie. (That's "amateur" as in "we're amateurs and would like to make a movie" -- nothing to do with porn.) Me, being the perfectionist I am, would like it to be a good movie. So I've come up with a few effects I'd like to try out before we get down to serious pre-production work.

One of these effects is quite simple, actually. Think of an action sequence bit, like a guy swinging a sword. What I'd like to do is freeze frame, paint over it, add animated "action lines" (think anime) behind the painted-over guy and then show that for a second or so. The problem is, I'm no good at drawing. Or, rather, not good enough to do something like this properly. The other problem is that I'm currently still at home-home and don't have access to a proper camera, proper people, proper costumes, proper swords, etc... So for this test, I took a picture of a Lego guy swinging swords. Yup, it's quite lame.

You can find the picture at http://math.ut.ee/~elver/swoosh.jpg -- I'd like to see someone paint over it as described. Style doesn't have to be anime'ish, if you don't like it -- I'm open to all suggestions. I can't promise any fame and riches, but if someone draws something nice based on that image, the project doesn't die a horrible death and we actually end up needing something like that, then I'll be sure to contact you.

So, yeah. Have fun, experiment, and help me test this idea of mine.

Whoop. Fellow student filmmaker. Hi there. I think the movie was you might want to reference is the Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys? I'm not sure how posting here helps, though it is a good idea. What kind of film are you making? Using this sort of effect usually means a comedy, though not neccesarily.
