Ok, I know all you people have been over the whole "which tablet should i get" thing, so I will make this short, simple and to the point. I found 2 good tablets. The Wacom Intous3 9x12 (THIS ONE COSTS MAJIOR $$$$$) and the Aiptek HyperPen 12000U. On personal experience, which is better, or is there a better one out there.

Honestly, can you people stop spamming? That's why 'Instant Messaging' was invented. Short quotes such as 'LOL' and 'ROFL' are permitted, only if you type something that is worth reading after it.

On Topic: I would stick to the $99 dollar Wacom 8''x5''. That's what most people use..I guess. Of corse Marcello uses a whopping 12''x 15''..I think.

seaanemone (Nov 24, 2004)
anyways... i was lookin fur a tablet and i was wondering where would you find those ones you mentioned...

Nightmare (edited Nov 24, 2004)
Im bad like that...but seriously, unless you want your account locked, please stop spamming? Mmmmkay? It drives Mod's bonkers when you spam.

And the tablet I brought, was sadly $99...

Oh, come on. Be reasonable. -__- Just figure out how to get all that you want to say in response to a topic in one post, and refrain from turning the forums into a chat.

Lol.. I use an Aiptek, it's a different model T8000U. The tablet is 6 x9. I like it ok.. It has no eraser end like the Wacom, but from what I have heard, it isnt as hard to get used to either. This was from COMP/USA for about $130 when I bought it. They sell alot of tablets on ebay for about $99.

concannon (Nov 24, 2004)
I have a Graphire. It's served me well, though it's been a bit shifty, lately.
  icon
staci (edited Nov 24, 2004)
HEY! how come there has never EVER been a forum post about this topic before?! jesus h. get with it people.

that being said..i have a wacom graphire somethin..100 bucks, circuit city, i heart it to death. i use it sooo much ive worn the plastic nub down on one side of my stylus just like a pencil. and there are nifty bite marks at the eraser end where i hold it in my mouth when im typing.

mice are for people without tablets.

me007 (Nov 24, 2004)
oo circut city they have tablets? if I tell my parents to go onto amazon the will need a fricking comp-compas to find their way through the jungle.. thanx :D.. umm.. im like seaanemone.. i just have a mouse with the little Dell thingy on it.. but it has served me well for a long time until the piece of crap goes phyco on me and like scribbles all over the applet... then i chuck it at a wall and it loves me again. :D

Man I swear I commented on this before, but any how, I use an AIPTEK, Like Davi, But I have the Biggie one, real nice. Hasn't given me any problems yet. Got mine at Comp USA also, But I think the ones in Vegas don't sell 'em anymore, everytime I go I don't see them.
Mine was about $ 150.
Staci, is that the little one? Wow You do Gereat work, I just thought it seemed kinda small I'm a clumsy oaf with small things, Kittens Beware! OOPS Sorry kitty.

Hummm, I wonder if using a tablet would improving my drawing skills??? No, prbably not :) Have you looked on Ebay for a tablet? check it out, you may find a good price on one that you like.

Lauren_Garcia (Nov 25, 2004)
try the intuos 2 6 by 9. ive had mine for a yearm, and have had absolutly no problems with it. its definately worth the money instead of the graphire. i know you dont want the 9by 12 but the 6 by 9...is also awesome...

marcello (Nov 25, 2004)
Just a warning, I've heard from many people that Aipteks tend to break and suck. Plus they need batteries.
I recommend 6x8" as the ideal size, 4x5" is too small, and 9x12" is a bit...big. If you go with Wacom that gives you the choice of graphire3 at ($200 list, $162 amazon) and intuos3 at ($330 list, $285 amazon).
  icon
me007 (Nov 25, 2004)
wohoo.. ok.. I wanna go look at Amazon now then I can just give my parents the link. :) hopefully they will be forgiving seeing as how they are "cheeper" on amazon. Im kinda new to this whole tablet ordeal but ive heard good things about Wacoms and how the users draw with them.. so 6x8 u recomend?.. ok thanx

Well like I said, I use AIPTEK and so far have had no prblem, batteries are in the pen, with constant use new batteries last about a year, had mine for a few years and I have had no probs. I do want a wacom sometime soon, but I'm happy right now.

Anna (Nov 26, 2004)
hooray for Wacom. :-) I looove mine. mmmm. I got it at CompUSA for $99... Although you can get it at Amazon for a better price. -_- Too bad I didn't look enough when I was planning on buying mine.

inatyrb (Nov 26, 2004)
what about a Wacom Graphire3 4" x 5"? does anyone have that or has heard about it? and the size of it, marcello says thats too small, does everyone else agree? i'm just wondering and looking up things.. ^.^
  icon
Anna (Nov 26, 2004)
I use it. And it's does the trick. Works perfectly fine for me.
  icon
marcello (Nov 26, 2004)
I started out with a 4x5 wacom, and last summer upgraded to a 6x8 intuos2. I found 4x5 a bit too small, and upgrading to the 6x8 was incredible. friend of mine got a 9x12, and while I'm sure that's good for some people, it was just too big for me. Afterall, I take mine on trips and actually want it to fit on my desk.

How much better is a tablet compared to an optical mouse? Is it really worth the money? What advantages does it have over the mouse? People always complain abotu staring their wrists with a mouse , but that never happens for me. The only thing I could think of is taht it would be faster.
  icon
me007 (Nov 26, 2004)
tablets are more like drawing in real life and increase speed and accuracy for drawing... I think I am getting one for christmas :D so im really like HAPPY NOW.. we went with the 4x5 for now just to get the feel of a tablet and stuff, and my mom didnt want to go spend 160 bucks at the moment. Tablets can be used to edit photos and stuff as well, but you draw with them as well so really they are worth the money if you use them.. more of a personal prefrence tho :P
  icon
marcello (Nov 26, 2004)
tablets are no different from mice for editing photos...
Basically what you have is the ability to sketch quickly, but also the ability to control brush size and flow with pressure to the mouse. This speeds mainly coloring up considerably.
  icon
me007 (Nov 26, 2004)
For a lot of people would you recommend starting off with a 4x5 and then upgrading, or go straight for the 6x8? and you were right about Amazon.. they were twenty bucks less on the graphire alone and even more on the intuos.. so amazon is the place to go.. usually locally we were looking and Best Buy seems to carry them at a really good price as well.. atleast the cost was lower than other chain stores that we checked out
  icon
marcello (Nov 26, 2004)
well I spent $315 on my tablet with the idea that I would probably never replace it. there are obviously different approaches to purchasing goods.
  icon
me007 (Nov 26, 2004)
yeah no doubt there are different ways of approaching it.. and u have a 4x6? I dont have much experience with tablets so we figured that we would go with a cheaper one right now, and then upgrade later if need be and so on plus I know my parents wouldnt wanna buy a $315 tablet :P let alone i dont need anything like that. But you're right, whatever works for people
