I was just noticing that the theme board is getting stale with the summertime fun thing... I recently did a picture depicting something from one of my more common nightmares, and I noticed in the comments that people dream some really interesting and unusual things. I thought it might be fun to start a new theme with Unusual Dreams or Nightmares, not only to see the art, but to see what kind of stuff ppl run wild with in their sleep.

I don't think the mods will mind if we just kinda change the theme on our own... so... anybody gotta dream to share in a drawing?

We had Dreams for a contest theme on our other drawing board once.. it was fun. Unusual Dreams sounds even better.. should be very interesting.

My dreams are like short movies. To draw a scene from one wouldn't be very explanatory but I like the idea. I wish we all had time and resources to do short animated clips from our dreams. Wouldn't that be a cool talk show? The guests would come on and chit chat with Letterman or Jay about this and that and then the guest would set up the clip of a dream they had and then they'd show it. I'll probably give it a try anyway....the dream pic, not the clip , no animation tools here. Although if you were feeling really ambitious you could story board it here. (V.1 first scene, V.2 second scene so on and so forth.)

It would be great to do animation of dreams. I'm doing one of my most memorable nightmares in three parts because, like you said, one picture cannot tell the whole dream. Some of the scariest dreams I experienced sound funny when told like a story but in your own mind at night they are scary as hell.

Yep, I think the most difficult part of this would be to get the viewer to understand the emotion and intensity you felt during the actual dream.

but that's always the difficult part

It's just like when you try to explain a really horrible scary nightmare to someone and they laugh at you because it doesn't sound scary... and yep, getting the feeling across is always the hardest part.

well, I don't even have nightmares, so....

i'd be interested in seeing other people's dreams, mine are really stupid and i usually have the same ones over and over, even ones that i had 10 years ago seem to come back
and the last new dream that i remember, while an excellent dream, just isn't appropriate to depict in pictures

my nightmares though really aren't that scary and i don't even see anything. it's just this sensation or pain i feel like i'm losing control over myself....like my brain being disconnected from my body

Marcello, you must be extremely emotionally balanced ... which is unusual but a great thing. Mister, I bet you could draw your brain being disconnected from your body. Sounds like a great pic to me.
