A very nice friend of mine made a webpage for me w/ some of my photographs and my drawings from this site, and there are a couple of trial versions of drawing programs you can download from the header page (at the top under Downloads). The one he recommended for me to try is the Corel 8... I haven't been able to download it and try it yet as it takes a while and I keep losing my connection and having to start over. I don't have a painter program of my own and was wondering what the best ones out there are, as I am thinking of buying one. Anyone have any recommendations? If you want to check out the painter program it's here: www.dba.schauk.com

If you get it downloaded and test it, let me know how it does...

Corel Painter 8 is an interesting program to say the least, but a pain in the ass to use, and the interface is complicated. Since each person likes different kinds of programs, I suggest trying trials of stuff first.

Featureful Drawing/Graphics Programs:
Painter Classic (comes free with most wacom tablets),
Adobe Photoshop 7 (insanely expensive, however, geared towards advanced photo manipulation),
Paint Shop Pro ($70 or so, I think, haven't used it),
Corel Painter 8 (moderately expensive, confusing),
Alias Sketchbook Pro (moderately expensive, rather interesting interface, works great with a tablet),
openCanvas (freeware, shareware... freeware one surprisingly versatile. I haven't used the shareware version much, but it's not much more advanced),
The Gimp (free, very crappy interface),
Pixia (free, haven't used it much, fairly daunting interface),
Macromedia Fireworks (moderately expensive, geared more for web and pseudo vector graphics instead of drawing)

Personally, I don't think there is any one program that's good. That's why I am working on my own. ;)

Thank you ever so much! That's more information in one minute than I've been able to find out in weeks. You are just not working fast enough! I'd be perfectly happy with your Lascaux forever probably, but I don't have it except for here! Get busy!!!! (I think my Wacom has the painter classic, but I threw away the box in a cleaning frenzy right after I got it, and I have no idea how to get there from here. lol)

And either everybody is mad at me or something or nobody reads the forums. This room was getting dusty and stuffy. :) Next time when I want to know something I'll title the post "Free Raunchy Porn" or something. lol

It's because you're such a homely and disagreeable person DBA (Editor's note: The writer is an old fart who lies like hell.) (For those who don't get it..this IS a joke!)

Personally I recommand photoshop, it istn as frustrating as other programs. Theres lotsa tutorials to help with photos like gettin rid of the bluriness and such. Meh, it does cost a bundle, but its really worth it. Though if you want to be evil and rip the company off, then just go to kazaa and dl the biggest file in there, no doubt you can get it that way too.

DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 20, 2004)
No, it wasn't dr. dezign lol. He just always kept after me to draw pictures for his archives. I promised I would and then never did.... I forgot about it till just now.

As esaure said,
"If you want to be evil and rip the company off, then just go to kazaa and dl the biggest file in there"
There are loads of programs you can just download off kazaa and then get the serial number. Rip all the companies off! Thats what I say! :P

Yeah, I know, but don't you have to know how to uncompress or decompress or something? I know nothing about bootlegging it... actually I was given links and codes to get this one permanently, but I'm too stupid to figure out how to make it work... lol... I haven't even gotten the stupid trial thing to download because when I lose my connection (which happens every couple of hours out here... I live in the midst of a bunch of ranches and nothingness.. don't know if that's why...) it quits loading. Someone is supposed to be coming soon to sort of re-build my computer like I want it to be and hopefully I can just get everything I want then and get him to make it work.... I'm too blonde for this stuff.
