I don't know how many ppl know this or already do it, but a friend shared it with me so I thought I'd share it with yall. I have a Wacom and don't know if it works with other types of tablets, but if you put about 3 pcs of typing paper over your tablet, it gets rid of that slippery feel when you draw, and it becomes more like using real tools, and you have more control. It doesn't affect the pressure sensitivity or anything. It takes a few minutes to get used to it, but I like it better that way. Try it!

Okay...I will and I'll let ya know if I like it or not...deal?

Okay, so this is later and it 'did' take a bit of getting used to...and it works great! Thanks for the cool tip!

Deal! It takes a little while to get used to it, but it is so much more like actually drawing, huh? :)

Ah yes, good advice DBA, I started doing this a while ago as I couldn't stand the plastic slippery feel. It feels just like using a pencil in your sketchbook now! :D

I like the 'slippery' feel, actually, I tried oing apicture like this and I found it much harder, no it wasn't just awkward for me, it was harder.
I draw on paper a lot, but I guess it's not a requirement that it feels like paper for me, Iasked for a tablet mainly for the pressure sensitivity that controls the 'paint' flow and opacity, not just because I thought it would be more like drawing offline, ^^;

the same 'friend' told me about that paper deal..i tried it but i like the smooth glide better than paper personally.

I didn't like it at first, but I gave myself time and realized that you have more control over your strokes that way.. it isn't really about it feeling like youre drawing, it's just the control thing. Anyhewww. I just like it better and thought there were some ppl that didn't know that might find it helpful.

I don't know.... I may try a drawing with some paper on top, but I tried it for a second the other day and didn't really like it. I like smoothness of the strokes on the tablet.

yea, meth forced me to try it out a few weeks ago. It's interesting, but I haven't drawn much since to say a whole lot more.
you really have to draw for a few hours with it before you start to get used to it, imo.

Yes, it does take a while to get the feel for it - now I go back and forth, and decided I like it with the paper better.

only one thought.. does it tend to wear out the little nylon tips faster? there is more friction..

i cant get the pressure sensitivity to work...any suggestons on that?

well, it should, if there's more friction, it should wear out faster. I haven't used it like that long enough to know exactly how long it takes. With my previous tablet, the tip easily lasted 5 years, though (without paper). So even with paper it should last a good amount of time (at least with my new one, I got 8 or so extra nibs, plus I got 8 more with my airbrush).
