Thanks Sunny, Dave and bette. This one was fun. Only difference is that I used a black and white photo and added the color into it which made it difficult for me. Skin tones etc were difficult. Oh...and the old photo is very dark with shadows on the faces which I had to lighten up quite a bit as they did not look like children when I added all of the dark shadows.
I can see some illustrative qualities in this painting, there seems to be an emphasis on brilliance of color, which a certainly a hallmark of Rockwell's style. Coloring black and white photos is a fun process, I particularly enjoy it myself. Rockwell painted from b/w photos through a good portion of his career, ones that he painstakingly composed himself using neighbors and friends as subjects. The composition in this painting certainly works and fits the subject matter, this was a good photo to paint. The two figures are looking in nearly opposite directions which really opens up the painting. Good work and thanks again for entering.
Very nice drawing QT it must 've been a true challenge turning a b/w photo into a color painting. I think it is a big pity we were the only two who tried our hand at this contest.
