I thought that since there's a lot of people here that have 1. an eye for design and 2. opinions, I'll show you the magazine I've been working on to see what you all think.

We just got the latest issue of the magazine I work on online in a pdf version, on this website. Just click the image of the september magazine at the top. It's kind of a big file but I don't think you can download it.

Here's some things to keep in mind when you're looking at it- there's no articles and it's pretty much 100% advertisements (most of which we design ourselves), the magazine is distributed on one Air Force base so it's entirely geared toward the people there and the various on-base facilities, and it's not a commercially sold magazine and it's the only one on base so we're not really involved in the competitive market. The main point of the magazine is to keep people informed of what events are going on, advertise on-base restaurants/other facilities, update the schedules of things like tours each month, etc. Also realize that all the pages in the pdf are shown one at a time, but in the actual magazine they're all facing each other in pairs. The first page in the pdf is the cover. The pdf images are all compressed and pretty low quality, but in the actual magazine nearly all the images are high quality. Lastly, I don't know why there's white lines around the text boxes in the pdf because they're not in the printed copy.

There were 4 people working on it, each of us with certain pages assigned. Since I was new and it was my first one I only worked on 7 pages of it myself. Say any opinion you have about it, about any part of it. This issue was better than the last one and hopefully the next issue (which we start work on this week) will be better than this one.

One thing I noticed is a heavy reliance on decorative fonts, and repeated use of certain fonts. For instance there is one particular decorative font used that I noticed on 5 or 6 pages in a row.
