Hello there,
I'm trying to do a drawing and progress is there. But I'd appreciate input. So far I've come up with this: http://2draw.net/view/100271/. So far no refs, other than the outline of the baby's head. For the rest I just can't find anything. I know the body is tiny compared to the head, how can I fix it (...just make it bigger...:D ). And perhaps you see something else that is off.
Thanks in advance.

the hair seems to extend too far down under his ear. There shouldn't be any hair directly under there.

Babies' bodies are normally small compared to their heads. I'm not sure if the body of this one is too small, but if it is then maybe just a little. Because he's standing like that, it seems that he's older than a baby though. His legs and arms seem especially developed for a baby.

Thanks so far Shanghai, really appreciated! Still not done yet, but gave the baby a haircut. And when I say baby, I mean more like a 12mnth old. Toned down the arms and legs quite a bit.

I actually think the afro baby looked funny :P
Anyways, you don't have to go for total realism, I think it doesn't look too bad. I think it's more important to breathe some live into your painting. For example the baby should actually look at that large alien-fetus(iris a bit down). And some more expression(sadness, joy, etc) would do good. Alien and baby both seem like puppets because of their emotionless faces.
Another thing are the inconsistent styles ... I think it's easy to spot that the baby has a more painterly style, opposed o the comic like nature of the alien and teddy. .. but I guess you're already working on that.
What else, hmm ... maybe you could make the teddy a bit larger. Currently it makes the baby seem larger than it should be.

Lol, I noticed tiny teddy too, I've removed it and just placed it back, but bigger :D. Decided to make the whole thing in a painterly style rather than the cartoony thing. Luckily I managed to change the baby's expression without messing it up too much.
Wew, I think it is the first drawing in a while that is taking me this long.

Looks better!
but maybe the brown opposed to the green in the bottom left corner creates a little bit too much of a contrast. Personally drags my eyes away from the actual action.

I think I fixed the brown green problem. After careful consideration I saw what you meant.

I've been intimidated by the Lascaux applet, because it seems complicated. Is there a link I can go to that explains the use of the tools on Lascaux?
