Did not use a photograph of a real person or anything, intended it to be more of a doll-like depiction. Features ended up being alot like one of my little nieces, Chloe, although she has blonde hair and blue eyes.

Since there's an 'aww' in each comment so far, and I'm always one to follow the crowd...AWWWWW! On a slightly more serious note, looks good, maybe the left eye (from our pov) is a little mis-shaped, and the chin a little small (ie not enough space between the bottom of the mouth and the bottom of the chin), but apart from that the proportions are good, and great shading! And AWWWW!

If this doesn't kill the theme board, nothing will. I have this pic scanned to my files, but don't know how to make a link to here... There is a black and white version of this picture @ www.dba.schauk.com . Have to scroll through the first two pics- it's the third.

Oh...don't say that! For an attempt at portraitry...(especially if you're not used to such work) this is really good! You got the proportions of your face down right, it just looks so soft and pastel like. I like it DBA and with a little more practice (that is if you're up to it) You can get really good at faces! Greak job!!! XD
sal (Feb 27, 2004)
wired lookin scenery on those other pics.... is that deer thing dead?
Cobra (Feb 27, 2004)
Wow! DBA what a beautifully talented artist you are, your work is always a joy
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 28, 2004)
No, sal, I asked the deer really nicely to lie down and be still for the picture. Yeah, they usually get dead when I put an arrow through their heart. Thanks for the nice comments, ya'll.

Wow, I agree, wonderful shadows, and I'm glad you added the new openings, it looked unbalanced before. also think the sky is the right color, it gives the piece a mood.

this is really dynamic to me. i dunno if its the colors or what. but do tree branches not taper in texas?
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 22, 2004)
Not always, but pretty often, Axil. He's a nice guy. And yes, Icats, they do taper, but they are bigger at the end of the taper, like everything else here. :)

First of all, glad you got your pic back. And second, it's definitely another great piece completed by you^^.Somehow, your drawing remind me of the oil painter Thomas Kinkade....
DinoFlorist (Feb 16, 2004)
This is a good picture! '____' I would hang this on my wall, and not much goes on my wall unless I draw it myself. I really like the glow of the house reflected on the snow, as well as the whole purple tone.
dixielandcutie (Feb 17, 2004)

Wanted to do something in a bluish sepia, and to practice some things that are really hard for me (like hands). Obviously, I still need more practice. Thought the velvet, leather and lace would be interesting and fun to do. Thanks for the playground space, Marcello. :)

prettiful. ive seen a few too (in Arkansas), although they've only looked like big moths cos they are so wee.
Look (Feb 6, 2004)
It's coming out great! I'm still trying to figure out your style. I mean I can tell it's your work right away, but I can't point out what's making it so different from other drawings. Maybe the way you use greyish colors. Hum..
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 6, 2004)
It's probably recognizable because I do it here exactly as I would if I were working on a real canvas, maybe? I build up from a base and I blend alot, and then try not to "spit and rub" the brush strokes at the end, leave them visible. Maybe that's it...
Knockoff (Feb 10, 2004)
Why haven't I commented on this.?
I love the buetiful coloring in this piece.
The wings are amazing, great job!

EverDream (Feb 5, 2004)
Reminds me alot of a chalk pastel painting. Exquisit work if that's the look you were shooting for. If not then I still like it none the less. ;) Keep it up!
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Feb 5, 2004)
Pastels are the other medium I use when I'm too lazy to get out my paints or when I travel. Thanks EverDream.
picassogirl (Feb 9, 2004)
