it doesn't work because you are using the <bgsound> HTML tag to embed the audio file---something that is a microsoft-only feature and will only work in certain versions of Internet Explorer. If you want to make it work on all web browsers you'll want to use something else like <embed> or a flash mp3 player.
Please don't use wav files (they're huge and/or sound bad), or bgsound (only works for some people), or microsoft internet explorer (no comment). When you do, god slices open live kittens and uses their intestines to strangle little puppies. (For that matter, same with naming web pages in all caps, using spaces in the filename, and ending in .htm instead of .html) I recommend not using a wav file (as opposed to mp3) because even when it's working correctly, it has to download the 6MB file (even on my blazing fast connection, it takes 2 minutes because your webserver is kinda slow and topping out at 100k/s---it will take probably 20 minutes for people on really good dialup). It starts playing instantly for you because it is cached on your computer (basically your computer downloads the sound and saves it in a folder, so next time you go to the site it doesn't need to download it again). If you converted it to mp3, it could be substantially smaller (about 0.5MB for 1 minute of voice). I apologize if this sounds condescending, I only partly intend it to be so. ;-D |
