This view behind my restaurant captured my attention, the color lines were so stark defined by the high intensity sodium vapor light I had to try to capture this.

I think you caught the feel of it Jilly!

Hi Dave! Thanks for the comment, this was something to keep me going to get back to kentucky fall, I wanted to put a foal in the pic and worried myself silly over getting just the right lines and size for the little horse. Everything I do right now is really about working out that pic. The trees in this composition is a reflection of working out the grass in the foreground of the other picture, and blah blah blah. I wonder if the mods will penalize me for so many versions on my pic, oh well... when I get to the real painting I'll have worked through the problems. Do you work in real mediums...? I know this is real, I mean, you know pencils oils etc? Jilly

May I say, not to be mean, though this is nice it looks unfinished.

I have a feeling JillJJ is about a half a bubble off plumb.

Barb, no offense taken, and your comment certainly does not sound mean. I looked at the same view tonight to see if the bottom of the pic was what I might work out. It is actually a striped lot and another streetlight. What if any are your thoughts on finishing..?? Jillj

I think what it is, is it looks sketchy. Especially the streaks coming from the lamp post. If you were to try using blend and just feather those linesout they wouldn't be as stark. Put some shading on the left side of the post for contrast, use the dark green on the bottom to blend into the trees so they don't look like they're floating, and work a little more on the sky it would look more polished. These are just suggestions. I know it's hard sometimes to get critique. I do like this, just needs tweaking I feel.

Hi Barb, I am very happy to get critical comments, especially when someone is willing to help with suggestioins. This is a great way to learn and improve. I really appreciate the input! Thanks! Jillj
