Contest Week 57: Human Figure *Two week contest.

Your goal these next two weeks is to draw the human figure. You must use a photo reference that shows the full body and the figure must be nude (male or female or both, it's your choice). It doesn't matter what pose the figure is in, as long as you can see most of the body. You can have up to 2 figures maximum in your entry and only 2 entries per participant, your best entry will be judged. The photo you choose must be in color (as well your entry), ie black and white, monotone, duotone entries will be disqualified. You must include a link to your photo reference in your entry's description.

You do not have to limit yourself to muscular or fit figures. Bodies come in many shapes, sizes, ages and skin colors, pick something visually interesting, not just what "looks healthy". Also consider how you compose your figure(s) on your canvas, what compositional elements might fit with your figure? What colors should you use in the background? It's okay to experiment and have fun. :)

Contest Week 57 will be open for entries from Sunday July 22, to, Saturday August 4, 11:59 AM PST.

O_o a contest that i'll have to wait till my siblings go to bed to participate in...

and i wanna do a male :(

I may enter- but where to source photos from? artistic nudes and porn seem to vie for places on search engines. I think I will have to look on deviantArt I know they have photos there....

cmb: I've got some nice nudes of myself, $100 per 8.5x11, I guarantee you'll love them. :P (yeah, I'm kidding...unless you really wanna pay that price for them, just hit me up).

But seriously, DA is a good place for nude portraits, plenty of amazing artistic-nude photographers on that site. I would stay away from porn shots, they're pretty lame usually, not all that graceful or interesting. Those poses are simply meant to exploit "the goods", which is just fine, it serves a purpose (right guys, high-five! lol jk) but they don't make very good painting references.

Be careful on DA... make sure you ask whoever did the photo..some of them get highly pissed if you don't (if you care about that)

I do care.. I would be pissed off if someone pinched one of my pictures- and I would give the person credit...m mmm, difficult, will have to look for something but I would need a reference pic too,,,,did a second pic I want to revise- but it wont load? and ideas please? ;-(
