Ahhh! just...Eeee! This is...EEEEE!
My comments are pretty lame, but I just have to express how much I like this picture.
Ahhhh!

THis one is great. I like the shirt, the light, the expression.. all that cool stuff.

Something about this makes it a very poignant work of art. Your style has become very mature and effective lately.

thanks you guys

Same general comment on this one as on the Tony one.

Damn Lori, your should be selling these in galleries. It reminds me of modern artists (and if I could spew off their names I would) I especially like the complimentary pieces like the curtain, flowers and art book (I'm assuming it's an art book) You did the classic traingle, meaning these three objects make your eyes move around the canvas and brings you back to the focus of the girl. Just everything is right in this one, I think it's one of my favorites from you. If I saw this for sale (and I could afford it) I'd buy it. :)

thank you Barb, I had put it up as a desktop background, and my father just said to me, "by the way, I don't like that background, it isn't pleasant to look at, at all."

Everybody's a critic
lori (Jun 22, 2007)
something like, "great job on that pic, although I don't like it as much as some of your others", would be a little nicer to hear, ya know? No one in my family cares one bit for my art. They suck!
davincipoppalag (Jun 22, 2007)
Well, you got us
mooki (Jun 23, 2007)
this is how i paint
i love the composition
and your dads bananas. kukoo bananas.
my mums the same way. "oh...well thats fine but why did you make her blue? it kinda hurts to look at"
that background is fantabulous
so serene

Everytime I show a piece I did to my dad the first thing he does is find something negative to say about it. Honestly, no matter if I painted my best piece I can see his eyes looking around for some problem or mistake and then he'd open with "It's a little dark" or "Not fond of the colors" or once I did this pretty little watercolor of Mother Goose and a baby on a cloud and the first thing out of his mouth was "The edges of the paper are ragged. You should fix that." Suffice it to say I don't show my dad my art anymore.

Felt the need to share. You ain't alone Lori. :)
lori (Jun 28, 2007)
oh well, can't please everyone huh
Sweetcell (Jun 28, 2007)
ESPECIALLY your family. That's why we come here. What better ego boosting. :D
lori (Jun 28, 2007)
ya, and my father really hated this one: http://cellosoft.com/2draw/view/89041/ He said, "the eyes are something you'd see in a freak show"
lol

LOL! I guess us artists all have something in common.. Parents who do not realize thier kids potential.

Edit* Btw, awsome drawing Lori! No I am not kissing your ass. This drawing really is cool.
lori (Jun 28, 2007)
what is WRONG with them? I think they're just jealous.
Sweetcell (Jun 28, 2007)
I know my dad is. He's kinda an artist himself and when people come over he brings out sketches he's done, when they ask to see mine too he get's....... very angry and broody the rest of the night.

I'm so glad I have this place. It's a luverly community.

I didn't comment on that one but it looks like a wooden puppet. Ah parents, whatever will we do with them?
