When I was very small a painting was given to us by my grandmother; her father had painted it. It was a brilliant reproduction of a photo (NOT this one) of an Indian girl, probably from a magazine, according to her. Looking at it I had always hoped to make something half as brilliant. Here is a copy of the famous "Afghan girl" photo from National Geographic. It's probably my favorite photograph ever, and I'm sure many people feel the same way.
I hope someday, also, to make a better version, or to reproduce another photo with greater skill than is shown here.

Yea..that is such a striking photo...very ambitious. I think you're on the right track..

OH! I have that National Geographics series. Quite well depicted though at first glance I thought it looked like a sad Mother Teresa. Pretty pic. Very striking green eyes!

aw swwet i always loved that photo too...oprah did a follow up on this girl some time ago..now she has two girls i think...anyway nice draw :)
