oh yeah?
YoureToast (Apr 2, 2007)
Yeah.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 2, 2007)
I haven't ever had a toaster... well, I had 3 once, for my first wedding, and then for my second one I had two, but I gave all of them away. I like to make toast in the oven broiler, but the first time I always walk away and forget about it until I smell smoke, and then I put more bread in the oven and stand there bored till It's done.
Axil62 (Apr 2, 2007)
thats because you have to learn your toast lesson first.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 2, 2007)
I'm mildly retarded and I've never not burnt the toast the first time.
Axil62 (Apr 2, 2007)
yeah me too, but not the toast part.
YoureToast (Apr 2, 2007)
Now i'm hungry and wondering why i never heard of making toast in the oven.
Axil62 (Apr 2, 2007)
becausr it's like using a flame thrower to light your cigarette
YoureToast (Apr 2, 2007)
i guess that's true because her toast kept getting brunt. A toaster can make poptarts too--and probably other things. i've never walked into a house that didn't have a toaster in it.
Axil62 (Apr 2, 2007)
try toasting a bologna sandwich sometime.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 2, 2007)
Hey, I make "cheese toast" or toast ham and cheese sandwiches, it's much easier than "grilled cheese"... and it doesn't stick to the pan (because there ISN'T a pan)... and it's not very fattening because you don't have to use butter or grease. I usually burn that the first time, too, though.

I hate gadgets and toasters are gadgets, they take up counter space, and I don't have much, I have a small house.
YoureToast (edited Apr 2, 2007)
i will,i have had a cheese sandwich before.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 2, 2007)
Cheese is one of the world's most wonderful foods. Besides peanut butter and meat, that is. You can eat a little bit and go for a long, long time without eating again.
Axil62 (Apr 2, 2007)
my grilled cheese sandwiches never stick to the pan. You do it all wrong I bet.
YoureToast (Apr 2, 2007)
Hahaha, i do--i can't cook. i can use a deep fryer though.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 2, 2007)
I have never ever been able to do it in a skillet, not an iron one, and now I have these gourmet stainless pots and pans, and they stick even worse in those. I probably do it all wrong. Please tell me how. I have a deep fryer, but it is in my greenhouse. I use it to fry fish out there because frying fish in the house makes it smell greasy and fishy for a long time, and I hate that.
YoureToast (Apr 2, 2007)
Haha yeah i know what you mean. i think the trick would be to use butter, i dunno.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (Apr 2, 2007)
No, I tried that, it didn't work. It's probably just because I'm retarded.
YoureToast (Apr 2, 2007)
Damn, i don't have a clue then. Lots and lots of butter is what i'm always hearing--or like PAM.
Axil62 (Apr 2, 2007)
No...you butter one side of each slice of bread and you make a cheese sandwich out of it with the butter sides out. Then you fry it on a little higher than medium until the underside is golden brown, then flip and fry the other side to golden brown.
YoureToast (Apr 2, 2007)
Mmmm--i'll try that next time.

Miss_DJ (Apr 3, 2007)
I'd agree with Axil except for the higher than medium part. Just precisely medium, but no more is the way to make it perfectly brown, not burnt. It's too easy to fk it up if it's higher. For God's sake, don't take that chance...unless you have plenty of more cheese and bread to start all over again.

ps if your butter is to hard to spread on the bread, you can 'cheat' and throw some butter in a pan (not too much) then put a piece of bread on the butter, zooming it around the pan with your spatula, then throw the cheese on it with another slice of bread. Repeat for other side of sandwich. Eat with tomato soup and a glass of milk. Enjoy.
YoureToast (Apr 3, 2007)
There is always more cheese than bread in all of my sanwiches.
