There's a tree behind my house that's been struck by lightning three times. Maybe it never strikes twice in one place, but I know for a fact it does in 3's. I have never, ever seen a really outstanding depiction of lightning in art... not in person, not in print, or on the internet. I'm thinking maybe it can't be done...?....(I know I can't do it, I tried) I like the "veiny" (if that wasn't a word I just made it one) look of the clouds... that happens a lot during electrical storms.
Thanks y'all. Yeah, the lightning wasn't that easy. I strive for a realistic look but that's not easy to do with lighting! I think maybe if I blended the bold strikes just a little bit more it might help some. In the actual photo, the main strike had several veins running with it, like they were intertwined. I had my brush set on the smallest size there is, that I know of. Is it possible to get it even smaller than this? I was happy with the tree though =) Thanks for the comments!
Ha, thanks SC. I look at my first few and sort of laugh. I can draw & paint no problem, it was just learning the tools here and knowing when and where to use them. It's so much fun! I LOVE this board!!! (STILL wish I had a drawing tablet though!!!!! Maybe I'll get one for my birthday or Christmas?)

But really Elly, I am amazed at how far you've come in such a short time. I feel so sorry for that tree.
