forumsdrawing discussion21st century artist Kurt J. Hinterbichler

Solipsist (Jul 24, 2006)
Untitled

Untitled (2001, crayon on paper, 8.5" by 11")-It is fitting that Hinterbichler did not title this piece, as any label upon it would immediately destroy the impact and importance of such a work. This is a piece that almost speaks for itself by communicating a hidden pride that all of humanity shares. While many artists simply use blank white paintings for their art, Hinterbichler goes one step further and improves upon the unimprovable. This in itself is an ingenious metaphor that speaks to humanity and its ability to create feeling where there once was none. A computer can play a piece of music "perfectly," seemingly without any improvement possible. However, when a true musician plays the music, it is obvious that something is present that has made the music come alive. It is because of humanity's courage that one is able to witness an improvement upon that which one originally thought was already perfect. Such is the case with this painting, and it proves that Hinterbichler has a courage not seen in many artists today. He is willing to attempt to improve upon perfection, and he does it with ease and elegance.

Can't you see? This post is a piece of art.

Solipsist is showing that by plagiarizing another website's content he can provoke unseen emotion from individuals in a contemporary multiple network-based communication platform. His parody-like mimic of the common trend of Beinganasshole, also referred to as "trolling" in colloquial conversation. In this piece he attempts to draw out the true nature and comment upon the device known as the Internet, and while this collage of other artwork seems unoriginal at first glance, careful inspection reveals its true genius. Unlike traditional text, Solipsist was able to take advantage of a technique now known as hyperlinking. This allows the artwork to extend beyond the realm of what is visible and draw the user into a deeper understanding of the piece. However, Solipsist's piece is not without its critics. Master artist kejoco, graduate of the Art Institute at Zoraw, Poland, says "Mikhail Simkin, I see you abandoned your old user name," while Derrick Ewing adds, "Solipsist, I fucking hate you, you have know [sic] idea what an artist is." These points are valid, though the artists seem to miss the original intention of the artwork.

Everything is art.
It's just like the force.

Not everyone understands the force.

An artist cannot allow himself such haughtiness towards Hinterbichler, even if he prefers Kinkade.

If Ty854 does not understand Hinterbichler I can only envy him: so many revelations expect him when he will finally understand.

In other words his words are not about Hinterbichler, but about himself. He has nothing to say about Hinterbichler.

I am a Ph.D student in the theoretical physics department at Columbia University.
The guy just made the stuff as a joke. As if that weren't obvious enough.

Marcello is intelligent enough to be sexy, even at such a tender age, but shhhh don't tell him I said so. :)

I was about to say , "Is this a joke?"

Now I see it is, but not on us. Trolls, they make roses smell bad.

Everthing can be art, but this kind of 'art' is an insult to masters and artists who have put their blood and sweat into their works.

So....i could draw some lines on paper and have the label of artist?
  icon
Noremac (Jul 25, 2006)
man, aliens are gunna come down here and laugh at us, because we argue whether a line is something magnificant or not.
"these bitches be dumb as rocks, look at them in awe of that red line"
im aware this isnt really, ya'know, real. but there have been real arguements about this crap in the past.

marcello (Jul 25, 2006)
If you consider it an insult, you take the world too seriously.
  icon
kejoco (Jul 25, 2006)
Its not an insult, just an annoyance

Simkin can go lick an elephant's ass. Although, he might come back here and tell us about the experience. I imagine he'll deconstruct his journey the best he can, telling us about the textures, the smell of the shit and how it's an overrated experience.

What if you cannot see and understand these things? Great masters in the past were misunderstood and so you must accept Hinterbichler and try to see whether his work pleases you or not.

Sweetcell (Jul 25, 2006)
Alright Hinterbichler, since I'm sure that's who this is, please draw something or leave it at that. Not everyone will agree, if few do.

Unfortunately I can be a Hinterbichler only in my dreams. I am not that talented.

Mikhail Simkin, I see you abandoned your old user name
Who is this russki?

Oh yeah, he IS a master. He could go back to the age of 4 when doing those masterpieces... the hands of an adult (?), the mind of a child, great concept. Its really a shame, like sopilipilipilopsist said, that we lose so many masterpieces like that... imagine the thousands of masterpieces of 4 year people that are thrown to bin! DONT YOU HAVE FEELINGS!?

*end of sarcasm

this kind of artists will remain (being called artist) until the concept of artist stops being abused by people that know nothing. Nowadays, you could spit coke into a white wall, and they consider it art...

DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jul 25, 2006)
Lost, what do you mean, lost? My refrigerator is always covered with the art of a 4 year old from somewhere!!! Matter of fact, I'm trading "Tow Mater" for the beautiful drawing that's on my fridge right now. :)

edit: what if you spit Copenhagen into a Coor's light can? Sometimes the "boys" leave those sitting around my house and Those I DO throw in the trash. hah

Oh, how oft are expansive vocabularies so woefully misapplied. I'll have none of your proverbial nouveau imperial vestments. It is spurious verbiage such as yours that leaves the general public with a justifiable distrust of eloquence, a distrust that has proven a most irritating obstacle to my own communications.

Then again, I suppose that con artists do yet qualify as artists, if only in the technical sense of the word.

edit: comment was addressed to Solipsist.

If he's really selling that crap (which I doubt), Hinderbitcher or whatever his name is is the one laughing.... all the way to the bank. It's damn funny, anyway.

Wait, come again? What in the hell did you just say? lol
that last part I did get, of course. ;)

I was just thinking, if an Elephant can scribble paint on a canvas and sell them this guy may be legit.

Oh woe is the art world.

I hear tell dogs that tear up canvas and sell it for upwards of $500.
  icon
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited Jul 25, 2006)
I have a dog that'll tear up whatever you've got. My little brother has some pit bulls that will tear it up, but might not let you have it back (minus a hand?) hah... let's start a business. You paint and I'll throw it to the dogs.

You simply don't get it. When Hinterbichler draws a line on a sheet of paper, his joy and his suffering, his regrets and his aspirations get reflected in it, transforming it from a piece of stationery into a Masterpiece of Art.
