staplerrr ahaha good picture
Kloxboy (Jul 12, 2006)
I believe it goes like this Dan:
"..and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry.."
How do I know? Because that's probably one of the most memorable quotes from the movie and I really like that movie. ;)
davincipoppalag (Jul 12, 2006)
That movie is a classic.. great Milton
sal (Jul 13, 2006)
pretty sure it was married as well :o
Kloxboy (edited Jul 13, 2006)
This is a quote from an interview with Stephen Root, the man who played the Milton character from Office Space. Stephen quotes his favorite line from the movie. As well, he's said this before on a TV interview:

"or my favorite, "And I said, I don't care if they lay me off either, because I told, I told Bill that if they move my desk one more time, then, then I'm, I'm quitting, I'm going to quit. And, and I told Don too, because they've moved my desk four times already this year, and I used to be over by the window, and I could see the squirrels, and they were merry, but then, they switched from the Swingline to the Boston stapler, but I kept my Swingline stapler because it didn't bind up as much, and I kept the staples for the Swingline stapler and it's not okay because if they take my stapler then I'll set the building on fire."

I highly doubt Stephen would misquote his own character. ;)
Axil62 (Jul 13, 2006)
OK. I believe you Clox, but it seems to me that Milton looking out the window watching squirrels fucking and thinking they must be married or they wouldn't do that is just hilarious... I mean come on....merry? Whats funny about merry? Unless you construe it to be some confusion on Milton's part about the word 'gay', and he was watching a couple of male squirrels taking turns butt humpin on each other. lol
Kloxboy (Jul 13, 2006)
Fair enough Dan. I think it's funny either way but yanno, I wasn't about to let a great line like that go by uncorrected.
kejoco (Jul 13, 2006)
I always thought it was "married" but according to imdb.com, which isn't gospel i know, it also says the quote is "merry".

Well cover me in bbq sauce, slap my ass and call me sally, the movie is officially FUCKIN RUINED FOR ME...thanks a-fuckin-lot!!!
marcello (Jul 13, 2006)
I always heard it as merry.
Axil62 (Jul 13, 2006)
Yea sure ya did.
davincipoppalag (Jul 13, 2006)
It was Christmas time and everyone was feeling Merry..she got pissed ..so everyone jumped with Joy (not ours)
Zack (edited Jul 13, 2006)
I always understood it as "married" too. "merry" makes no sense.

Milton's character didn't just toss out random rare words. Who the hell describes anything as "merry" these days? If Milton said random uncommon words elsewhere in the movie I might be inclined to accept that he said "merry," but he doesn't.
marcello (Jul 13, 2006)
lots of people say merry. who the hell says squirrels get married is what I want to know.
davincipoppalag (Jul 13, 2006)
Only if they're nuts
Kloxboy (Jul 13, 2006)
merry - mer·ri·er, mer·ri·est, merriment

1. Full of high-spirited gaiety; jolly.
2. Marked by or offering fun and gaiety; festive: a merry evening.
3. Archaic. Delightful; entertaining.

It makes perfect sense. True, no one says "merry" these days but that's the point, it was out of place. I thought it was funny, are you saying I'm wrong? You think my sense of humor sucks? You killed my dog? WHAT? Bring it chump! I'm damn near omnipotent, don't cross me boy.
Axil62 (Jul 13, 2006)
maybe he was watching these merry men.
marcello (Jul 13, 2006)
ol' bait and switch comment moving, eh?
Axil62 (Jul 13, 2006)
Well I thought Clox was probably writing his while I was writing mine and I posted before him so after he posted his it was out of place for him because he thought his was gonna be directly following Dave's, which of course wasn't the case because of mine so I moved mine to where it would be if things had gone the way Clox thought they were going...you understand.
marcello (Jul 13, 2006)
entirely
Zack (Jul 13, 2006)
The red stapler was so popular Swingline brought it back. It puts the "fun" back in "functional" lmao!
Axil62 (edited Jul 13, 2006)
