I like the grapes!!!!!
The cheese looks old and smelly!!!
davincipoppalag (May 19, 2006)
The cheese looks like one of those gross ones like bleu cheese or gorgonzola. You can almost smell it
Sweetcell (May 19, 2006)
Stilton actually, said to be the king of cheeses, but I think it wilted in the heat. Tanka you 2.
fleeting_memory (edited May 19, 2006)
is it Stilton? Silly me thinking it was old Brie lol nice grapes
edit: lol really old brie without its white outer layer-I think I'm just craving brie haha
DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 19, 2006)
I think you did a nice job on the grapes, maybe if you went a tiny bit darker on the shadowed parts, and be just a little braver with the highlights they'd pop more, but they're good as they are. I love cheese and wine and grapes. That's like a whole total meal, what else do you need?

I like the marble top it's all sitting on. I think you're too hard on yourself, Sweetcell! This is nice. I think the glass is really good, too. If I (oh the beginner drawer that I am) would dare to critique anything...I would say the cheese is kinda large and sorta caved in. I think sometimes once we do a draw, it would look better if we could crop it somehow for the overall composition to be improved. I find that in my draws often to be the case. love, Donna

I noticed when I was painting it it was looking caved in but I thought meh, I'll leave it the way it is, but I did learn a lot from this. Next time I do stiff cheese it won't be melting X), and don't be afraid to critique Donna, your eye is as good as anyones here.

DBA ya, I went first too dark then too light then too dark and was about to puch my monitor *hehe* but me learnin for de next time hey. One thing Cindy, how does one get transparacy, grapes if you look at them are somewhat transparant and that's what I tried to do (and failed) Tips on how to would be so greatly appreciated.

Wow Missd, you noticed it was marble. I'm so gonna make you a cookie.
Miss_DJ (May 19, 2006)
I will eat any cookie you make me too...lol...
DeadlyBlondeArcher (edited May 19, 2006)
I actually think you got that sort of transparent, frosty diffused glow look that grapes have, it would only be a little more in intensity from dark to light I would go with the shadows and highlights, and maybe make the outer edges of them a little less fuzzy, but the painting is consistent throughout, so I'd just experiment with the next one. I probably don't make any sense, I'd make a terrible teacher. Everything I've ever done was try and fail and try again and again till sometimes I finally got it right, and sometimes not. :)

(I had some cheese in my fridge once that looked like that, but the green stuff wasn't there when I bought it, so I threw it out ... hah :)
Sweetcell (May 19, 2006)
Hahahaha, maybe if you were pressed with company coming (and you weren't particularly fond of them) you could have served it and passed it off as French XD.

I agree they kinda look right, maybe I rushed this, but I'll remember your tips. Highlights and shadows in the wrong parts can make things look bad. Definately will remember for next time *smoochies* Cindy.
DeadlyBlondeArcher (May 19, 2006)
Don't get me wrong, they aren't in the wrong places at all, I was just thinking a little more intense is all. The overall painting is very pleasing and it is consistent which makes it flow, so, I think you did a nice job. As long as that cheese looked like that when you bought it, I'll have a piece. lol
DarkCloak (May 19, 2006)
mmm... Looks tastey. That wine glass looks a little small though, a couple of sips and it's empty.
Sweetcell (edited May 20, 2006)
Port DC, I think it's Port, the ref shows it's darker, that's my guesse.

Any more than a few gulps you'll be eating the cheese DBA threw out ;D
NOVEMBER93 (May 20, 2006)
the glass looks too skinny >.>, but the grapes look like you could go and pickem
Roytje (May 20, 2006)
Damn, that cheese doesn't look tastey. It's well drawn, though. :)
Sweetcell (edited May 20, 2006)
November93, it's a small port glass, small, it's supposed to be small, get it?

Thanks Roy.

Stilton doesn't look appetising I agree, had I spent more time on this (and I admit I should have) there would have been more blue green spots on it. Can we say ewwww?
