hmm..are you using layers? becuase looking at the versions, it doesnt look like you are. if you use layers, you dont have to worry about running over lines and redoing them, and you will also be able to put in more details like shading.
another thing:dont forget that little line connecting the muzzle to the eye, dont be afraid to use a ref :)

Yeah... I figured that out the other day... I made a spray paint can and a bloody tissue (now deleted) with layers... I'm not going to use layers on this and am now going to put it as finished!!!
