Thanks. I used a ref. I thought it was beautiful so just I wanted to try it.
Edit: I discovered some cool new things about Shi (new to me anyway) that I think are going to make things interesting once I mess with them some more.
You seem to be using burn and dodge a lot more than you used to, and I'm definitely liking the outcome. Your colors have been a lot more striking in your recent submissions. The faint lines really add a lot of interest to this.
Thanks. Yea, dodge and burn are really nice at various settings, same with watercolor #2. Combining those with touches of the "usual" tools is proving to be great fun.
I just woke up from yelling help. In my dream I was in the back of a van parked on the side of the road, the sliding side door was open, I was with friends, I was looking out of the open side door onto a large field, it was night but the moonlight was good. The general feeling was good, my friend Jimmy was there. As I looked out across the field in the light of the moon I saw a flock of birds forming a pattern in the sky, they flew from right to left and then more joined from left to right to converge, as they did they turned downward and became less real and more two dimensional, everything was in grayscale and it became clear to me that the birds were penguins and I thought how strange and beautiful this is, these penguins that aren't supposed to fly, they fly in formation and make precise beautiful patterns. And then light patterns began sweeping across the vegetation in the fields and for a moment I thought they too were beautiful and then I began hearing strange siren like sounds and I thought how foreign they sounded, like nothing I'd heard before, they started out sort of faint and grew louder and the birds were flying faster and more angry and the mood switched to one of fear and I thought oh no, not this again, no they're back, no please no, god help me. I turned to warn everyone in the van but they were gone and I tried to yell for help but I couldn't yell and again I knew it was because of them, they wouldn't let me, I tried harder and harder and harder and then I could tell some sound was coming out and that sound got louder HhhhheeEEEELLLLP! Then my wife shook me awake.
I don't think I dream in grey scale..everything is always coloured. This is beautiful, I really have no idea how to use dodge or burn :S I keep messing with both but still havent quite 'Got it'. Lovely work as always Axil :D
you go through phases of doing a certain style or theme and this one is as good as the best of them. great work dan, you prob have more skillz than the rest of us put together, but then again you've drawn nearly as many pictures as daves commented on here.
I see love, it's burning, bright as anger, or as deep as passion. You are so the guy.
I had a dream long ago with Freddie Kruger as a math teacher on a space station. We were in the classroom and I couldn't get a problem (bad at math) so i called him over to help. He was bent over me going through the problem when I looked out of the large bay wall to wall windows and saw something coming towards the station from deep space. I asked him what it could be and the whole class ran up to the windows, Freddie then says "It's an invasion." I may have woken up, or the dream swithced, but it was something that stuck with me to this day.
Since we're sharing.
