OMG, Yea it is ! Thats why most of my seemingly easy toon pictures take an hour or more its becuase them damn lines. but,I have to admit' it. It sure does make a picture look nice. Something like this is definely worth the time, wouldn't you agree.
Oh i've noticed that you've figared out how to use the smooth erasor. I just figuared that out too, a week or two ago. the hardest thing about that is after the line art is the coloring you can't entirely fill in color on the same layer and some of the color will seem bleed threw parts of the lines & around them.
Then you'll need to touch the lines up again and then color another line but this time a line of what ever color your using undernieth. You know like a tan line along the line art for the skin ect.. (you'll see to get rid of the ignoying light grey line around the pen ink.
also if this helps after the picture is about done. Go over the out line of the picture with pen ink "0-1 thickness" and transparentcy of 225-245 it will get ride of some of the pixelized areas. (i'm still learning it too... but if it helps that is what i have figured out so far.)

the background's fine. if it were more complicated it would have taken the focus away. but you coulda put just a little lines on the tree... but zowie! wow! holy cow! :)
