Have a tablet? Want to get the most out of it on 2draw.net?
Get JTablet v0.9.5! This nifty little plugin for Java by yours truly gives Lascaux Sketch and Oekaki Shi-Painter access to pressure from your graphics tablet. This gives you more control and power when drawing, but actions speak louder than words, so download it today! Download JTablet at the Sketchstudio website The new version now supports a wider variety of tablets and should now work with any WinTab-compatible tablet, so if you had trouble with previous versions, be sure to try out this one! To celebrate the release, Zack has contributed a JTablet tutorial to the 2draw wiki. This covers installing and using JTablet on 2draw.net. Enjoy. |

davincipoppalag (May 24, 2005)
So..If I did that test thing in the other forum..the three step thingy..and it worked.. I dont need to do THIS one?
Ceido (edited May 24, 2005)
By golly it works! (none of the other versions worked for me) :O
Whoo hoo! I can now use those features I have been so eager to try out in my drawings. Well done Marcello. |
Zack (May 24, 2005)
Shadow: Try following the exact procedure I outline in my tutorial. If that doesn't work, try restarting your browser. If that doesn't work, try restarting your computer. If all else fails, uninstall JTablet, then reinstall it and try again.
Dave: If it ain't broke, don't fix it. ;) |

davincipoppalag (May 24, 2005)
Thanks Zack..it was working fine this morning.

This version is identical to the one linked on the other forum post.

Taken to the dark side, this tablet it. Feel it in the Force i can.
Kenshin (May 25, 2005)
Is it supposed to work on oekaki shi painter? x_x If it is, it doesn't for me. There's no sensitivity ness XD On the test it works, though.
Zack (May 25, 2005)
You have to turn it on inside the applet. Read the tutorial.

inatyrb (May 25, 2005)
Sweet. Now all I have to do is test on how well I like this, or if it will be too difficult to get used to. Unfortunatly I draw with a little more pressure anyways, so this will definatly be a little interesting. ^^

tappie_chan (Jun 3, 2005)
is there one for macs?
two-na (edited Jun 7, 2005)
tappie chan: i am working on the mac port right now. some major hurdles are the implementation i'm looking at compared to speed, i see no reason why you would want to store tablet data inside arrays, maybe you were getting carried away when you made the extension thinking you should build structs
mouseX, absX, cursorX, whatever you want to call it float. mousey float pressure float eventtype float then do not close the tabletdata, record it, and update it well it should work, it's just taking a bit |
marcello (Jun 7, 2005)
I didn't use floats because I wanted the library to be as close to the hardware implementation as possible, the idea being that any conversion of that sort should be on the software side. I used an array because you can update all the data in c++ at once without calling lots of Java setter functions (extra unnecessary overhead). Just look at how it's all done in the windows port, it's pretty clean and straightforward.

Yahhhooo! I just got a tablet, and I thought that I'd have time and power to return to 2Draw.. and then this also.. grrrrreat!

HunterKiller_ (edited Jun 10, 2005)
I've just downloaded this version. Installed it, tested it in the tester, still doesn't work for me =[
EDIT: Yes! It works now after a restart. |
Deformed (Jun 19, 2005)
Yes! This is soooo cool. The controll is incredible!
sephiroth54321 (Jun 30, 2005)
I followed all the steps and restarted my computer but it still says that I didn't install it.
Zack (Jun 30, 2005)
Where? On the test applet? Can you get pressure sensitivity working in other programs like Photoshop? What version of Java are you using, and what browser?
sephiroth54321 (edited Jun 30, 2005)
don't know, but yes i am talking about the test. I followed all the steps plus I restarted my computer.
Zack (Jun 30, 2005)
You don't know what browser you're using? O_o (hint: internet explorer or mozilla/firefox?)
This test applet? http://cellosoft.com/sketchstudio/jtablet-test/ What tablet do you have? (Wacom Grafire3? Wacom Intuos2?) |
sephiroth54321 (Jun 30, 2005)
internet explorer, tablet: don't have one. Yes, that test applet
Zack (Jun 30, 2005)
This plugin is for tablets.
sephiroth54321 (Jun 30, 2005)
what do you mean "tablets" and if so wouldn't it still work when I did the test?
Zack (Jun 30, 2005)
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/images/products/prod_95541.jpg
Computer mice don't have pressure sensitivity. The plugin only works for tablets, specifically with a pressure-sensitive drawing stylus. In other words, if you don't know what it is, you don't have one. |

what do you mean "tablets" and if so wouldn't it still work when I did the test?lmfao. |

me007 (Jul 2, 2005)
Dude you cant be serious. You don't know what a tablet is?
Xodiak (Jul 2, 2005)
Well, it is alright, I didn't know what a tablet is when I visited an oekaki board for the first time. <:)
|XOD| |
nekodesu (Jul 2, 2005)
I only knew what a tablet was because my brother had one for a while. But I never knew that it had pressure sensitivity before. So like Xod said, it's not a big deal if you didn't know what it was.
And there's a pressure simulation in Adobe Photoshop for mouse users if you want to make a lineart on the computer but mine came out really cruddy. >_< |
me007 (Jul 2, 2005)
I know, I didn't know what a tablet was either when I can to 2draw at first either. I only found out because my friend wanted one so bad, and then I got one before her :P. It just suprised me since I thought it would be obvious with a name like JTablet, but I guess if you don't know what a tablet is, it wouldnt be obvious. But yeah, Zack did a pretty good job of summing the whole thing up.
Xodiak (Jul 2, 2005)
When I visited the first drawing board I heard people asking if someone drew a picture with a mouse or not and I was wondering, what else could they have used instead of a mouse? Their pipi maybe? >;D

Heh, I learned of tablets on Elfwood. Took me a long while to figure out what they were after hearing them mentioned, since nobody seems to like explaining what they are, but I eventually figured it out myself and now I have one =3 I love having pressure sensitivity.. so I guess I should download this JTablet thing then, huh? >>;; -Goes to do so-
Edit: Ya! it works! >) Go Marcello for making it =3 |

Zack (Mar 11, 2006)
http://www.7dayshop.com/catalog/images/products/prod_95541.jpg
Drawing tablets have something called a "stylus" that mimics the attributes of drawing with a real life pen. Some people find it more natural than using a mouse. |
purpleee (Mar 11, 2006)
ooooooooo i want one :D

dietsoda (Mar 20, 2006)
I installed j-tablet but it still doesnt work after trying everything. When I test it out, it says "Plug in v.: couldn't load" "JTablet class not found. Did you install JTablet setup.exe?" What does that mean? My tablets pressure sensitivity works with open canvas and photo shop... so it cant be my tablet. Oh well.... any help or explanations are appreciated.
davincipoppalag (Mar 20, 2006)
do it from mozilla...I got that same nonsense when I tried from AOL (even though I thought I had set my browser default to mozilla..apparently AOL does whatever the hell it wants..) I opened mozilla and loaded the JT plugin and its fine...I am thinking that you need to clean your cache too, maybe..old cookies and all)..dunno if this will help
dietsoda (Mar 20, 2006)
arrrrg. it wont work... even on mozilla. oh well. thank you for trying to help. :) ... what's a "cache"?
davincipoppalag (Mar 20, 2006)
Its a place that stores temporary internet files and cookies and such. If you have your browser open, click on tools...internet options... and you will see where you can delete files and cookies...you'll have to ask one of the techies if you can't find it that way..I don't know much about this junk...
marcello (Mar 21, 2006)
All I can suggest is, in this order, uninstall jtablet, install the latest java from www.java.com, install the latest jtablet, reboot, try on firefox.
Roytje (Jun 30, 2016)
I can't download jTablet anymore? I've a new laptop, so I have to download jTablet again :)
davincipoppalag (edited Jul 1, 2016)
Apparently it wont work any more..this is what marcello told Karl marcello (10 days ago)
You're gonna need to uninstall JTablet. It doesn't work with the latest versions of OS X, and I don't intend to fix it. That might be what's causing issues? |
