The Battle of Hastings (1066 and All That) was distinguished by its royal headgear, viz one arrow worn by Harold, King of England. This tale of sartorial elegance was marred by typically poor shooting on the part of the Normans, who signally failed to adorn the King's Royal Hat but scored a direct hit on a royal orb, rendering the King null, void, and extinguished. To this day, Kings and Queens of England carry orbs at their Coronation as a reminder to duck more quickly.
