Baby elephant hiding in the grass (they can do that, right?), is what I'm thinking. But anyways, it's both cute and I like the light spots on the head.
-edit, I typed that before looking at the reference.
This is really great. You know what I like 'bout your art, Gigge?? The fact that you take a reference and transform it so that it's all you. Whether it be the colors, the pose, etc... You change it to make it uniquely yours, just using the ref as a base/idea. You're very good.
so what is it Gigge? an elephant, right? I love them, hehe, took a ride on one with my son when he was smaller :D I love the animal shows that they talk about elephants on... how they remember their friends and family, if they're separated or whatever... they can get back together after years and the way they act seems proof that they never forgot each other. so sweet :)... they also mourn their lost ones much the way people do... hehe... we also call my mother elephant ears... she's an avid eavesdropper.
Lori: Yup, an elephant.. The reference is called "elephant closeup" . ;) I like them. I think their whole social system is amazing, especially the elephant graveyards.
Anna: Using a reference is like following directions to me. No matter what my intentions are or how hard I try, I can't do it. So kind of you to see my flaw as an asset.
silver maiden: Be careful what you name her. She might take offense at being called a he. ;)
Thanks everyone for the kind words. :)
