Ok, this is another thrown together piece. I'm working on relaxing when I work and not be so uptight about it. Perfect example: while I was working on this, I spent maybe 1/2 hour getting laundry together and getting my younger sibs to bed... maybe it was an hour... so, the time on this is way off I'll bet. Anyway... this is a brain image of the beautiful countryside of where I live...

Something about it almost has a sort of Monet'ish feeling to it - at first glance it looks "thrown together", but if you just relax and view it without being critical, it has the good light and dark values of an impressionist piece. Monet said that sometimes he would "unfocus" his eyes, kind of like when you look at things in a trance-like state, where only the lights and the shadows were visible when he viewed the subjects he was painting. Lots of practice could make you a good impressionist artist.

Where do you live?
iwonderwhy (Sep 24, 2004)
DBA- Really? Impressionist... thanks! I might ponder that further...
Clox- Wisconsin :D And no... I'm not a hick. I was actually born in Dallas, TX, where we lived until I was 6, but we had to move up here where my dad's family was. And unlike the rest of my family... I was a born city girl! But this place IS beautiful, even if it is a small city (no specifics, just one hint: Bicycling Capital of America).

I meant where in Wisconsin? I'm from Wisconsin and I've seen areas like this. I like hicks.

Really? You're from Wisconsin? Well... I'm from Sparta. :) Where are you?
Kloxboy (Sep 24, 2004)
Sorry, I lived in Galesville WI for almost 7 years..now I live in CO.

Aw, well that's too bad. That's a major move! I'm sure it's just as beautiful there, though.

I like this too. You have portrayed the essence of the place without the details, and that's what impressionists did, isn't it?
Nice.
