This was going to be a 15 minute portrait but Bob was hard to draw, so I kept drawing him until it looked enough like Bob that one could look at this drawing and say "hey, that looks like Bob"

Urei-sama (Sep 24, 2004)

Axil62 (Sep 24, 2004)
You couldn't just draw a nice easy smooth face, no no, not you, you just had to show how it's really done.
dixielandcutie (Sep 24, 2004)
shoot, thats just incredible...why do i have the sudden urg now to watch karate kid?? >.< *giggle* and the tree is an awesome addition
Kasha (Sep 24, 2004)
I don't know who he is but he resembles someone I know.He also looks like my friends grandpa. (maybe all chinese grandpas look like that, mine sorta did lol) He's a funny guy.. I went to visit her once and he was sitting in the living room with all the lights off burning incense. Creepiest thing ever. All I remember him saying was "Maaaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiii yaaaaaa!"

great picture. I like his overbite.
Axil62 (Sep 24, 2004)
One time I walked into the kitchen of my mother in law's house (Asian) and there she was, squatting on the floor with a huge machete chopping away at a cows head, eyeball lookin at me. So I said "Oh, hi mom." and went and made myself a bologna sandwich.
Kenshin (Sep 25, 2004)
Wow, it got in the showcase. It deserved it. ^^
davincipoppalag (Sep 25, 2004)
Beautiful work on the skin and the wrinkles! This is incredibly good work..
safescene (Sep 25, 2004)
The greatest part of the whole drawing is the palm tree. I mean, just look at the detail of the leaves, the trunk, the lineart! It's quite amazing. I think you could've spent some more time on Old Bob, though, Clox; he's lacking.

>:D
Xodiak (Sep 27, 2004)
Bob never looked so nice! Hahaha, super photorealistic drawing! >:D

Cordelia_Pink (Sep 27, 2004)

emmamommalag (Sep 27, 2004)
Dang! It looks like a photo. Amazing.. that's what it is. Even though I don't know who Bob is.. I believe this looks EXACTLY like him!
Zack (Sep 27, 2004)
Axil's right. This couldn't have been an easy face to draw. Mad props, bro.

wtf palmtree.
It looks like he is trying to ignite the palm tree with mental powers.
Kloxboy (Sep 28, 2004)
I was actually going for a Rockwell-esque style. In my opinion, Oekaki photorealism is tedious and lacks style. I respect artists who can achieve photorealism with traditional mediums, such as pencil, oil paints, what have you. Photorealism is harder to do with traditional media and it's not a skill everyone and their grandma can do. Oekaki (and other digital programs) are a different story, I've seen work by 12 year olds on Oekaki boards that are photorealistic, just about anyone with a little artistic skill can copy a photo digitally. When you have unlimited color palettes, "Undo" abilities, a shit load of brush tools and the comforts of a computer, anything is possible. Disagree? Why? My opinion on vector art is similar, there are "vector tracers" and there are "vector artists". Artists like DBA, Axil and ED create stylized realism which is awesome and respectable.
Xodiak (Oct 25, 2004)
Anime, furries, cartoon characters, doodles, comic heroes, pokemon, smurfs, hentai, porn, stick figures and oekaki photorealism are not stylized or respectable. Hahahaha..... I wish I were born in that ancient age where cavemen smeared their bodily wastes on the surface of the caves and created "art". Oh, I forgot, they do it today too! http://www.sanfranciscoartmagazine.com/2001/november/boadwee/boadwee.html
I wish I knew how to control the tablet with my feces expelling organ. I would trully create art. >;)

Love the picture Clox, butt I mean but----Enema painter? Are you fuckin kiddin' me God I bet that exhibit stinks!
Kloxboy (Oct 25, 2004)
I'm not sure about that XOD, I always thought the Smurfs were right up there with Vermeer and Michelangelo as far as art history is concerned.
Xodiak (Oct 25, 2004)
I do not know who is better, the Smurfs or Michelangelo.I cannot speak about Vermeer though, I have never heard of such a ninja turtle before. >:)

Old bob? Is it twin peaks we're talking about here?
dorothyblueeyes (Mar 24, 2012)
is this Mao Tse Tung? In his decrepit old age? Anyhow, you made him more beautiful than he should be. Hee hee. What are you, one of the gang of four? Or five or six? Or are you just home on the plane of mainland China? Did you ever used to read "Young lust" I think that was the name of the comic? They had a great "step forward" along with young lust on the mainland, politically correct no less. Great picture fantastic, I'm not worthy, but I don't really care. Ha ha fantastic keep it up.
davincipoppalag (Oct 5, 2019)
Bob still looks like Bob!
