Three tools. Dodge, Burn and blur.

I've done a few fire pictures and I never used the dodge, burn or blur. I don't even know how to use the dodge and burn... but if you want the fire to look realistic, you should probably start out by having a really dark background. You have the blue in the right place, but there's red and orange and white and then more of a fluorescent purpley blue towards the middle. Try doing another picture, look up any reference picture of fire... just do some kind of search for one.. study it very carefully before you do one stroke of painting. Analyze where everything is and try to reproduce it, starting with a black background. It's really not hard to do. (there are a couple in my gallery if you want to look at those, too)

edit: oh, and btw: hands are really difficult to do and the proportions you have here are pretty good
