It doesn't matter what the rest of his face is doing, as long as he's smiling. (I don't want to be a hobo... My little brothers and I used to hide under the creek bridge overpass by the railroad tracks and watch them hop cars... nope... gotta think of a different name for me)
Though great in itself, this is particularly interesting in contrast with the earlier self-portrait. It's like two sides of the same personality... the brooding, impulsive, colorful side, and the goofy kid trapped in an adult's body. True or not, that's what I see in them. From what I can tell about you, you might do nothing but paint yourself for the rest of your life and still never run out of interesting subjects.
Great picture, Dan. That brings back memories, Dead.. we used to go out after Sunday school to watch the hobos.. there were tracks behind the churchyard.
Hah, that's cool. I'm going to critique this as someone who doesn't know what caricatures are "hmmm, his head seems a little big, his nose too...I would work on the anatomy..this is strange looking, see I know what I'm talking about because I draw nothing but anime all day" Slappy Hobo...he's my best friend.
