Thought I'd get a start on this thing: I've been looking for a "drawing playground" for a while, and was very happy to find this link on a friend's page. Also, the drawing time isn't entirely accurate: it took me a while to find the tablet, but I did spend at least half an hour on it, so intermediate, here it goes!

I'm really liking these tools.

Self-crit: I need to work on my shadows, and perhaps drawing light-on-dark would have been a better approach (as it is, I used a mix). Also, his/her? cheek needs a bit of help!

Edit: Cheek looks a mite better, and the extra highlights to the left turned out pretty decent, but I'm still not completely happy! :)

But, tis 4 a.m.! I look forward to working on this again, or to moving towards a new piece.

This is a great playground..welcome. You should really submit the unfinished pictures as hidden until they are ready for display, unless you are seeking advice or criticism during the draw.

Thanks for the welcome. Also, I always welcome constructive criticism: being away from any studio recently, it's something to appreciate. I had hoped, with this site as constructed as it was, that it this would be a place for both that as well as interaction, and less on the "show off my awesome skillz" than some sites do because I believe that a good part of art comes from social context/construction.

Next time I'll mention it in the desc. I didn't know about the hidden option, but thanks for telling me about it.
