I have always wanted to learn how to draw, what's the best way to go about it. I've been on meetup and have looked at classes. None of them seem to offer actual instruction.
Advice, please? |

Just DRAW man. There's no how to draw. It's inside you. Take inspiration from your own mind and transcribe it into art. Nobody is bad at drawing, everyone has their own style! ;) So don't be afraid to just DRAW. You don't need special equipment, use whatever makes you happy.

i'd like to disagree- even though there isn't one way to draw, there are def. many ' sombodies' bad at drawing. i've heard too many excuse their bad art as their own style. there's nothing wrong with being bad, it's those excuses thst drive me insane.

Haha, nobody is bad at drawing. That's the same as nobody is bad at singing. You don't want to hear me sing.

Start by just drawing something small. Be persistent, have patience, experiment, challenge yourself and enjoy the process.
Read up on perspective, color theory, anatomy, life drawing, visual story telling, thumbnailing, and different artists. Additionally why not attend a course and hang out with people who share your interest? When you start you have no style. It's something that slowly and automatically develops over time. And it will be hard to get rid of it once it's there (similar to an accent). Your style can be unique if you're someone who does unique things. |

What Dr.Moony said. Just be persistent. I bet I could come up with nice drawings if I stayed persistent. I have not been drawing at all, so if I decide to just draw all of a sudden, it's going to be a crap drawing I know it. I would like to think that I am an artist, but too lazy to do anything about it. Real Artists, such as Roytje and Axil62, keep drawing all the time.
