Yes, actually, I think so. A more skilled artist would be able to produce as well-executed work in a shorter time period. Frankly, I'm just embarrassed about how long I take to draw sometimes.

Well, what defines 'well-executed work' ? By that logic you're saying that Axil62, who does most of his work in under 2 hours, is a more skilled artist than Artiste or Cloxboy. Does the time rule only apply to realism then? You might work on a face for hours trying to define a nose or lip to get the look just right, whereas someone with a more loose style can hint at its shape and shadow, but that's their style. You might say part of your style is how you obsess over details or the time you put into it.
Also, it's only the viewers of a web-based drawing program who's judgement you are heeding. And what about that random sandwich-make in the middle of a drawing? ;) Don't be too hard on yourself.

I don't get the difference between 3 and 13hrs as well, but when artists make a decent piece in under half an hour, it's usually made in a delicious, loose style, they wouldn't have achieved if they dedicated twice the amount of time ;)

Cloxboy has some fantastic pieces under 2 hours as well. I'm not saying only artists who work faster are more skilled, just that I think artists who are more skilled have the ability to work faster, if only simply because practice does tend to improve speed. But, Staci, and shults, you have a point about each artist's style being a factor in the time taken, aside from skill. I guess it is many things, and the time isn't that important. The timer just makes me self-conscious Dx

I dont think art should be defined by time or price, if you like the piece. Then that's all that matters. Not eveything is judged by speed, lets take sex for example...the longer you take the better is is.

Or, as Sophie says, "Sex is not a carnival cruise. I'm a busy woman. You get on, you get off."

This is really fine. Love the skin and the lips and the eye wrinkles and...he has a very weird philtrum, doesn't he? Kind of looks like a baby Tom Cruise.
