Everything about this is gorgeous. The gradient of the water, the light, even just the shadow the dress casts on the girl's back... you've outdone yourself. This is a wonderful piece.
Love this... makes me feel happy. I used to try that, and it's hard to do...my golden retriever is good at it, though. :) I personally enjoy it because by relating to her through your painting I can feel the water on my feet, the sun on my shoulders, and the anticipation of her "stalking" the minnows. All of the elements of the painting are very difficult to execute and you did a beautiful job.
Thank you Sweetlove and DJ.
I'm glad you like this DBA, but I had to wonder at first what you were talking about until I realized I titled this piece "Chasing Minnows".I reffed this from a photo and the girl was holding a fishing rod. The rod seemed out of place in such shallow water, so I left it out.
I gave it the title in my own personal reference to Axil's post http://2draw.net/view/120242/ and how his question may pertain to realism.
It makes me think that online art is somewhat like chasing minnows; spending a lot of time and energy in a futile attempt to win such a small prize.
...but maybe we do it to feel the "water on our feet" the "sun on our shoulders" and if a picture can stir such feelings for the artist or the viewer, it was certainly worth the time we spent on it.
Thank you, DBA.
Not only is it so realistic you could get your finger wet, touching the screen, it is BEAUTIFULLY depicted. You could join Andrew Wyeth, as to reality depicting. But I do not think Wyeth was ever this rich, and warm.
Well, Jekyll, you're giving people beauty, and grace, so we do appreciate it.

Wonderful to see you something from you again. :)
I find drawing water to be challenging, but it is a favourite subject of mine. This one was fun.
