I wish I had a 'detail mode' too, I enjoy playing with colors, and getting forms right is satisfying too, but I can't be bothered enough to make any piece perfect, because of the major detailing required.
Most of the time my pictures are set to finished because because I feel "that's good enough" (in terms of form and details) or because I'm tired of them.
For example, when I draw hair using a ref I wouldn't try making the hair stand in the same way as the ref but mainly copy the colors and outer shape. It's too much effort for me to see where each strand goes, I'm bored with the picture way before I'm done. (the same problem goes with finishing traditional art- it takes so much time that I already want to move on to my next piece)
So even though I admire the dedication needed for spending 5 hrs on a hand, I can't seem to understand the passion of doing so, beyond maybe a one time experience, just to see if I can.
'landscape of memories' -good title ,thankyou miss dj my idea was body part as landscape. ;) mmm texture mode high...sounds good ..some sort of mental condition no doubt thered be some medication for it ha ha...loss of any sense of time is a major factor i dont believe that perfection lies in superdetail thou it certainly does impress many :p
I'm almost dumbfounded by this IM! At the same time it gives me goosebumps! The texture is delicious!! So, since I'm such a perfectionist (but hardly close to perfect) I can't help but say that there's something that bothers me about the edges of the 2nd & 3rd fingers...I'm not sure what it is about those areas, I can't quite put my finger on it (no pun=p, but something...maybe if you used the blur tool on super low opacity just along the edge of the fingers? I feel that it helps to sorta get rid of any harsh edges that still need to be somewhat crisp but not stark sharp. Does that make any sense? Otherwise, OMG one of my favs of yours!!
CONGRATULATIONS IM!! I'm absolutely thrilled with how you finished this off! I'm curious, was it in your plan all along to add the lighter surface of skin with the cast shadow under the hand or something you thought up?? Either way, this is brilliant!! Standing-O!!!
"Congrats" "itchy" on winning 1st place.....it's an amazing draw, and certainly deserves to win......your artistic talent never ceases to amaze me....:)
