I'm having all kinds of problems with this draw.....I can't get the "clarity" that I want.....it looks cloudy or something to me....I dunno what's wrong. I might end up deleting it, and drawing something else. I never did an all black and white draw before.....I'm so used to using colors. Oh well.....a first time for everything. Any suggestions and/or criticism would be welcomed.....I need help!!! "lol"!! :) There isn't any more that I can add to this pic, so I'm posting it as "finished".....if I keep "messing" with it......I'll just screw it up....."lol"!! I can always add some finishing touches to it later on.....

Don't delete this.. it's really a good one
firecracker (Aug 16, 2010)
Hi "sassy" and "DaVinci".....I really appreciate your comments....if you guys think it looks ok, then I won't delete it. I just can't understand why I can't get the clarity that I want......there's just something not working right here, and I can't figure it out. Sassy......lestat is one of my fave vampires.....but I like Louie better. Lestat is the one who turned Louie into a vampire...."lol"!! I still want to try to do more to this....if I can figure out what it is that I need to do to make it look better....."lol"!! Thanks again for your comments.....I really appreciate it....:)

FC, this is fantastic! Love the eerie dramatic feel to it! WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
montezmaria (Aug 16, 2010)
Oh gosh, don't give up. This is one of my favs of yours!! This is looking so good, love it!
alicedemone (Aug 16, 2010)
I love this. That is one of my favorite movies! And book series too!
Suntan (Aug 16, 2010)
I liked these books, too..great!
Teapot (Aug 16, 2010)
Great capture of the Tom Cruise frowny face. I fell asleep during the movie. Not a Cruise fan usually, though I thought he was amazingly scary in the film 'Magnolia'. When a drawing feels fuzzy or blurry you could try doing a little definition using the pen tool on low-ish opacity and very small brush. I don't think it needs it, though. The soft quality imparts an appropriate feeling of mystery...it's nighttime, probably foggy. It works. Very good drawing.
firecracker (Aug 16, 2010)
Thank you all very much for all your nice comments......I really do appreciate it.....I'm glad you all like the pic. Thank you very much for your suggestion "teapot"......I think I'll experiment with what you said here, and see what happens....it does seem kinda blurry to me....I was trying to figure out how to give it more clarity. It is nightime though, and it's supposed to be a very foggy, eerie night......a perfect night for vampires to be out, looking for their next victim...."lol"! I'm glad you think it looks ok the way it is teapot......I'll probably have to leave it the way it is.....when I start "messing around" with a draw....I just screw things up. I never saw the film you mentioned "Magnolia"....I'll have to check it out. My fave Tom Cruise film of all time is "The Last Samurai".....he was magnificent in that film.....the movie was awesome. I really liked that movie "Interview with a Vampire".....but Louie (Brad Pitt) was my fave vampire. Antonio Banderas was also in that movie.....he was the vampire "Armand". Anyways....thanks again for all of your comments, and suggestions.....I really do appreciate it. :)

I never saw the movie, but I've read the book many times. This drawing makes me want to see the movie. Very nice use of textures..not too much, just enough. You captured the mood perfectly!
firecracker (Aug 17, 2010)
Thanks "MissDj", for your nice comment.....I appreciate it....I'm glad you like the pic. I think you would really enjoy the movie.....especially since you read the book, and liked it. It's an awesome movie.....definitely one of my favorites. Thanks again for commenting.....:)
lori (Aug 18, 2010)
this is excellent... the man in the forefront , the way you drew him reminds me of some of DeadlyBlondeArcher's old drawings... which is a big compliment... you done good fc!
firecracker (Aug 18, 2010)
Hi Lori! Thanks so much for your great comment.....I really do appreciate it......"wow".....I never had the pleasure of drawing here when "The Deadly Blonde Archer" used to draw here.....I did see some of her draws though, and I must say she is really a very talented artist, and I thank you for the great compliment.....but I don't think I'm in the same "league" as she is......I sure wish I could draw like her. I don't feel like an artist yet.....I'm still an "artist wanna be", and lately I haven't been drawing much.....I'm in kind of a "slump"......I hope I can get out of this slump soon, because I do love to draw, but my heart doesn't seem into it lately. But.....thanks anyway for the nice comment.....I really appreciate it, and I'm glad you like the pic....:)
lori (Aug 18, 2010)
I think you are most definitely an artist.
firecracker (Aug 18, 2010)
Thanks Lori......but I have a long way to go, and I need to practice more. I remember somebody telling me once....that it takes "practice, practice, and more practice"....."lol"!! The person who told me that is a very talented artist....but she doesn't draw here very often. :)
lori (Aug 18, 2010)
you do just fine

Hi "GG"! Nice to see ya!! Thanks very much for your nice comment.....I appreciate it. Thanks again "Lori".....
sassy109 (Aug 25, 2010)
love this soo much wish ima next victim lol :)
firecracker (Aug 25, 2010)
"lol" "sassy"......if you were to watch the movie (Interview with a vampire).....I don't think you would want to be "Lestat's" next victim.....he was a cruel, ruthless vampire.....I think you would rather be "Louie's" next victim.....not Lestat's.... Louie was a much more gentle sort of a vampire.....he wasn't cruel like Lestat....."LOL"! Anyways.....thanks for the nice comment....I do appreciate it!! :) I hope you don't have nightmares about vampires tonite "sassy"!!
madscientist111 (Aug 25, 2010)
Wonderful work, FC! Lestat coulda had a V-8! LOL!!
firecracker (Aug 25, 2010)
I agree "mad",,,,,he sure could've used a "v-8"...."lol'!! Thanks for the comment....I appreciate it....:)
artsy (Sep 29, 2010)
I like your drawing because it's less tom cruise-y than the Lestat in the movie. This fits more with my mental image of him from the books. I don't particularly like the texture on the building, but that seems more of a trademark for your work, so I respect it in that way. Over all, nice job on this piece. :)
firecracker (Oct 2, 2010)
Thanks very much for commenting "artsy".....I appreciate it. You're right.....this draw is less tom cruise-y than the Lestat in the movie. I never did read the book.....but I loved the movie. Using the texture tool is a habit that I have....I can't seem to finish a draw unless I add some texture somewhere...."lol" Yes....I agree....I think the building would look better without the texture, but I'm not gonna change it now....I'll just "mess" things up if I start messing around with it...."lol". I'm glad you like the pic though....Thanks!! :)
lori (Oct 29, 2011)
what if you used the sharpen tool on this to get the effect you seem to desire?
firecracker (Oct 29, 2011)
Hi Lori.....I think you can only use the sharpen tool in lascaux .....I don't think chibi paint has it. I haven't been to chibi paint in awhile....I'll have to check there to see if they added a sharpen tool since I've been gone. I love using the sharpen tool....it gives you great effects.....I wish chibi paint would get it. :)
