I had a blind english bull dog name Love. Poor thing. She was the perfect guard dog because she could hear everything. A person makes a step and she goes off. I could never go into the kitchen late at night as a kid cuz of her.... Anyway, she was so sweet. I miss her.

ANYWAY, I love this picture. Beautiful!

My aunt used to have a blind dog and she taught her to carry a basket in her mouth as a buffer for bumping into things. It worked perfectly. Good luck with your dog. Very nice "selfs" portrait! :)

That's a wonderful thing to do.

Thanks everyone!! Wow, I'm amazed at how many of you have had or know of someone who has a blind dog. She is the most wonderful dog I've ever owned, love her to death!

"Wow"! What an awesome draw, and what a beautiful thing for you to do.....to adopt this gorgeous blind dog. I live with a blind dog.....she's a rottweiler named "Zelda", and she's my sister's dog. She's about 9 yrs old, and she's been blind for about a year or so now. She gets around really good, but she does bump her head a lot. My sister should teach her to carry a basket around as a buffer, like suntan said that her aunt taught her dog to do. Awesome draw!! :)

I've never met a blind dog. They rely so much on their sense of smell and hearing I guess it's not quite as bad if we go blind because our other senses are not as keen as a dog's. It's so lovely you are taking on the care of this sweetie. I LOVE English bulldogs...stubborn but so sweet-natured. I'm going to be caring for a dog with severe epilepsy for a couple of weeks. I'm a little nervous about it. Started fostering rescue dogs...have a beagle and a Maltese at the moment. My life just doesn't feel right without a dog (or six) in it.

I'm sure you'll do just fine, Teapot. Yes, English bulldogs are very sweet dogs and have silly ways about them. The breed really touches me and I am in love with them. It is too bad they have so many health issues though. Alphie, the blind bullie I have is amazing at how well she does with her sense of smell and hearing. I swear at times she can see, but know she can't. Sad to say she use to see until neglect of her owners caused her to be blind, due to infections in her eyes untreated. She is a wonderful, loving girl and I love her to death. Wouldn't trade her for any other dog. I'd love to have six dogs myself, but I'll settle for two at a time.
