I think you'll have better luck looking between the couch cushions.

there are several ways to erase.. let's run through them
1.undo
2.where it says erase
3.the back arrow
4.start a new layer and delete your first layer
5.paint over it

Or, you could just do what this guy does and not use an eraser. Ever. jeeeeez
