"Wow"!!!! This is really awesome! I had to "log in" just so I could comment on this pic......I just love it!!! I love these kinds of draws......this is great......I wish you'd do more of these!!! I have to agree with "madscientist" This pic rocks!!!!! :)
Amazing tribute to an Icon. RIP, Frazetta. I hope all the angels in your Heaven look like the women you drew in life. What a hero he was to so many aspiring graphic artists. I'll have to study this some more when you've finished. Right now I am loving how the face and body of the woman are looking totally Frazetta. Niiiiiice job. The sky and the mountain are superb...those purples with the golden oranges I think are my favourite colour combination. Love how the orange is brought down into the composition in the tree, the man and the horse.
I totally think this should be a showcase draw.....I just love it.....I right-clicked on it, so I could save it in my "windows pics".....that way I can look at it any time I want.....I hope you don't mind me doing that.....it's just for me to look at. I wish you would do more Frazetta draws......nice tribute to a great artist. AWESOME draw!!!!!! :)
Without trying to be to much of a pessimist because it's such a great piece, the axe not lining up straight through his hand is pissing me off a little.
I happened upon the original of this and noticed that the handle of the axe is also bent in Frazetta's painting. Interesting that someone would be cheering for the soldier when the girl is naked, hiding, and only has a knife. Regardless, the scene lends itself to story-making. The textures on that tree stump are amazing. Do you think the horse belongs to him or to her? Seems like if it were hers, it wouldn't have all the tack. I'm guessing she'd ride bareback.
In the orignal I think it's the angle that makes it appear bent, when it's a natural curve in the wood. In this rendering the curve appears more severe, almost crook like. I dont think it will take much tinkering to put it right, you never know I could be wrong.
